Near Mikołajki, on Lake Inulec, there is Zełwągi, and in it Chrosiówka - a house in the village located in front of the local beach. A house with a large, almost hectare yard, where there is a playground, a shed, a fireplace, a mini forest and a piece of wild meadow. And soon there will also be an atmospheric Masurian log cabin.
There is something in Zełwągi that makes you want to be here. Some special bond between people and an acceptance of otherness. Maybe because before the war the first Mormon settlement in Poland was established here? Maybe because history has really mixed up the population in these lands? Or maybe Zełwągi is just like that? We do not know. But the fact is that they act as a magnet. When someone comes here once, they usually come back every year.
In Chrosiówka, we have three rooms for you with a view of the lake and hilly meadows. We have real food and warmth. In the winter, we have warmth and books, in the summer, we have a beach and sparks above the fire. Come on over. We are not going anywhere yet.
We have the entire attic of the house with a separate entrance for you. It's not a huge space, as it only accommodates a kitchen and three bedrooms with bathrooms. However, this makes it feel homey and intimate.
We can accommodate up to 7 people (including children).
When booking, choose one of our rooms. Rooms 1 and 2 are north-facing and offer a beautiful view of Lake Inulec. Room 3, on the south, is the only one with air conditioning. Each room has a comfortable large double bed with a medical mattress. Room 1 also has an additional fold-out bed for one person.
If you're a 2+1 family, we'll offer you room number 1. If you have two children, we'll offer you two rooms – for your comfort and the comfort of other guests :)
Each room also features a large wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a table, an armchair, soft wool carpets, plenty of books, warm blankets for chilly evenings (if you fancy stargazing, as we have central heating in the rooms), and unplugged board and card games for entertaining. Next to the rooms is a fully equipped kitchen. If you enjoy excellent coffee and a good book, you might enjoy our place. If you prefer cycling, kayaking, or a morning run followed by a swim in the lake – we have all that. Or perhaps you're looking for a place for those who enjoy long walks in the woods, guitar playing, and a campfire? We invite you!
Please note that in addition to the rooms, we also rent a wooden house – Chata Chrosiówka – for up to 8 people. So, you'll share part of the yard with the cottage guests, including the fire pit and children's playground. The shelter and part of the yard in front of the house are reserved exclusively for guests staying in the rooms. There are also two parking lots. Our yard covers almost a hectare of land, so there's plenty of space.
It's also worth noting that our house is located in a village, so we have neighbors. We have a large yard surrounded by trees and shrubs, and it's usually very peaceful, but we can't guarantee complete peace and quiet. One of the neighbors also welcomes guests; sometimes someone mows the lawn, and sometimes someone chops wood. As is typical in the countryside. In the summer, Zełwągi is a bit more lively and cheerful, but from September to June, it's truly idyllic.
We have arranged the kitchen in such a way that everyone can prepare something delicious. Don't hesitate to use it.
You will find everything you need here:
- dishes, cutlery, pots,
- electric hob and microwave,
- fridge and electric kettle,
- coffee maker, French press, dripper (drip), grinder and milk frother
- sugar, salt, specialty coffee and tea.
For some time now, you can try our products here. It started with a search for simple, good food. Now we have gained momentum and make rennet cheeses, bake rye bread with sourdough, make real live apple vinegar and beer. It turned out that the devil is not so black and that the secret is good ingredients and a bit of heart.
For cheese, we only use milk from zełnący cows, appropriate bacteria cultures, rennet and salt. The breads are made from organic rye flour from Młynomag (the 600-year-old Reszele mill is the oldest operating mill in Poland), grains, water and salt. Drop by for a slice of bread with butter!
You can also order hot challah from Małgosia next door. Sometimes you can talk her into making her signature żurek soup or another dish. From May to September, Studnia Smaków also operates right next door, where they serve delicious waffles, ice cream and coffee.
In the season, you will definitely eat well in the nearby Królicza Nora or Zełwągi Restaurant. You can also kayak across the lake to the Muranka fish fryery for the best fish in the area.
We will show you more tasty addresses in the area on site. And the best coffee and breakfasts are served in our favourite bistro Przechowalnia Marzeń in Mikołajki.
In summer, we recommend the village beach right outside our windows or the wild beaches in the forest. We also have a private family beach across from my parents' house, just 700 meters away, if you prefer a more intimate atmosphere. But we really recommend the village beach! Firstly, it's only 50 meters from the entrance, and secondly, our lake is a quiet zone, so even when the beach is crowded, it's still idyllic and peaceful. There's a volleyball court, a gym, an amphitheater, a decent playground, and plenty of sand.
We have sun loungers, hammocks, three kayaks, and our own pier for anglers right next to the village beach.
Besides the beach, there are games, cards, and balls for fun. Nearby forest paths are perfect for walking and cycling. We also have a few bikes, but they're rather old-school, so if you're a frequent rider, we recommend bringing your own or renting one nearby. There are numerous and exceptionally picturesque cycling routes; after all, we're nestled in the Pisz Forest and Masurian Landscape Park!
Set aside some time to read books from our library and indulge in simple pleasures like enjoying aromatic coffee (we have specialty coffee from Kofikada in Olsztyn), gazing at the stars, long evenings by the fire, and quiet afternoons in a hammock. Only then will you feel like you have more time for everything.
In the meadow behind the house, there's a fire pit and a shelter, and right next to the house is another shelter with hammocks. You can comfortably feast here or simply enjoy a coffee or green tea in the morning.
For those visiting Masuria for the first time, we also recommend evergreens like Mikołajki, Pranie Forester's Lodge, Gierłoż, Sztynort, rafting on the Krutynia River, the more wild Sapina, and Boyen Fortress. Although we prefer to visit these places off-season.
Welcome to the house where dirty children mean happy holidays. That is why we encourage our guests to give their children more freedom. Point number one is of course the village beach, which is right next door. Our children claim that the water temperature is ideal from May to the end of September. On the beach, as on any beach, there is a pile of sand, a large playground and half a hectare of meadow.
On the hill behind the house we also have our own playground. It will be especially appreciated by school-age children. Wojtek made all the toys himself according to our daughters' ideas. The designers were demanding and you could hear every now and then: "Dad, this will be too easy...", so Dad tried and instead of a playground, we got a combat obstacle course...
We also have toys, board games and books for children.
If you don't have excessive needs, i.e. for work, all you need is a view of the lake, available internet, a wooden table and good coffee, in fact... we have everything :) We also have hammocks in front of the house and a shelter with electrical sockets if someone likes to work outside .
If you would like to work longer with us, ask for an individual offer, we invite you!
