Apparently, the mineral waters of Szczawno-Zdrój were so prized that in the mid-19th century, bottled versions were sent to China. We don't know if this is entirely true, but the local spa waters are certainly worth trying even in the 21st century. Szczawno-Zdrój, a somewhat forgotten and sleepy town, is now practically part of Wałbrzych. If you know and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful former German town, you'll like ours too – it will just be a bit slower. Former Ober-Salzbrunn is famous for its Spa Park and the Henryk Wieniawski Theatre, and our apartment happens to be right next to both of these attractions. The proximity to the center allows for easy access to local restaurants and evening strolls along the promenade. Above all, Szczawno is an excellent base for mountain hikes – and there are plenty of them around. There are the closest ones, the Wałbrzych and Owl Mountains, and a little further afield, the Table Mountains or the Karkonosze Mountains. Don't forget the exceptionally picturesque Rudawy Janowickie Mountains. Looking for an address close to a hiking trail? Standing in the hallway, we have doors to a bathroom with a shower, bedroom 1 with a large double bed and a large wardrobe with a window, bedroom 2 with two single beds, and a large living room with a kitchenette. The living room has a sofa bed that sleeps two.

The Legenda restaurant is 300 meters from the apartment. It serves good Polish cuisine and large portions. Pod Lwami, located on the promenade, is an interesting place. If you're looking for takeout, the building you're staying in has a PIZZA HIT attached to it, serving good pizza and zapiekanka (casseroles).

Coffee and desserts are BOHEMA's specialty; they have several locations nearby. For more refined cuisine and an interesting interior, visit MONTOWNIA near Stara Kopalnia, 3.7 km away.

You're in a place that's a great base for trips to the surrounding mountains. And there are plenty of them. You can organize a day trip to Śnieżnik or to the Bear Cave in the Kłodzko Valley.

We often take a quick trip to the wonderfully different Table Mountains, on the Polish or Czech side. The Karkonosze Mountains are also within reach in a single day, including climbing Śnieżka. Although I recommend the Samotnia mountain hut. And additionally: the Rudawy Janowickie and the Owl Mountains, which hide secrets from World War II in their tunnels.

For cyclists, we have endless cycling routes. The number one attraction is undoubtedly Książ Castle. It's definitely worth it. Szczawno-Zdrój is practically part of Wałbrzych. The town itself, a bit neglected, with the stigma of long-standing high unemployment, is still worth a visit. But don't count on any nightlife. Recommended places include the Old Mine, the Palm House, and, for those active, the recently opened RED POINT climbing wall. Wrocław is an hour's train ride away.

Słoneczna Polana is 10 minutes from the apartment. It used to be a golf course there. A long time ago. Now there's a bike track leading to the Four Cross, a large playground for children, and a skate park. Walking along the trail, you'll reach the newly built observation tower in 20 minutes. The RED POINT climbing wall also has a separate section for children. The nearby horse farm in Dworzysko is also worth a visit.

There may not be a desk, but there is working internet! And you can work at the table in the living room.
