Have you ever slept... in a rectory? An Orthodox one at that? This could be your one and only chance for such an experience. And it will be truly Podlaskie, because every day, from behind the fence, the blue 250-year-old Orthodox church, the pride of Werstok, will wink at you. Welcome to a village of 31 houses, located somewhere on the Podlaskie edge of Poland—yet at the beginning of a cultural borderland. Our municipality is among the top three Polish municipalities with the highest percentage of national minorities, and over 80% of residents declare Belarusian nationality. If you love Podlaskie or have long been planning to explore it, this is the perfect place to soak up its local flavor. Listen to the melody of the local dialect, admire traditional wooden huts, and sample local delicacies. The roads from Werstok will lead you to other colorful Podlasie villages: nearby are Pasieczniki Małe and Dubicze Cerkiewne, and a little further on, Hajnówka with its unique Holy Trinity Cathedral and restaurants serving Podlasie cuisine. Not to mention the forest. The Białowieża Forest will call you and probably won't let you go, because everyone who has visited it longs for this ancient forest forever.

We invite you to an old wooden rectory, which has been given a new lease on life and now creaks quietly under the feet of guests visiting Podlasie. The house stands opposite the famous Blue Church in Werstok, the sight of which serves as a daily reminder of the land we find ourselves in.

This is a place for exclusive use for up to 9 people. The interior is warm with wood, soft with light, and a touch of nostalgia – but without sacrificing comfort. A tiled stove creates a welcoming atmosphere, and air conditioning ensures comfort year-round. Guests can enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious living room for socializing.

The house is located on the well-maintained, extensive grounds of the new rectory.

The kitchen at Sowa is large, comfortable, and well-equipped – inviting you to cook together and enjoy each other's company. We've equipped it with all the modern appliances you need to comfortably prepare meals: an oven, dishwasher, hob, and coffee maker.

Without a doubt, the most distinctive place in Wersotek is our Blue Church. Its history dates back to 1768, and the oldest icons here date from the second half of the 18th century. Also of historical interest are the church's Gospel and the Apostle, with a handwritten note by its founder, Józef Wilczewski, a hussar knight. You will be lucky enough to wake up to the sight of our magical church every morning. Perhaps you will be able to attend an Orthodox Mass?

Our village is tiny, with a population of about 60. If you walk straight ahead, you can traverse its entire length in just a few minutes. This is a place where you can truly experience the spirit of Podlasie: old wooden cottages, wooden fences, gardens full of fruit trees. And all around, there are only forests, fields, and roads leading to other Podlasie villages.

Or... to the Białowieża Forest. A visit to its ancient forests will remain in your memory for a long time. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the forest is one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe. We encourage you to visit it with experienced guides who know the mysterious stories, extraordinary details of the local natural world, and, of course, the places where you can spot bison.

Hajnówka is the largest town in our area, with large chain stores, impressive Orthodox churches, and a well-known local market offering healthy food on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Narrow-Gauge Forest Railway begins in Hajnówka, traversing the Białowieża Forest from May to September.

For those interested in the history of Polish Jews, we recommend a trip to nearby Orla. The majestic synagogue there was built around 1754. The interior was covered with beautiful frescoes featuring plant and animal motifs, remnants of which survive to this day.

For cycling enthusiasts, we recommend the Green Velo Eastern Bicycle Trail. It's over 2,000 km of specially marked trail. The trail passes through five voivodeships of eastern Poland, although if you want to return for the night, it's best to stick to Podlasie.

For water enthusiasts, the Bachmaty Reservoir and the Repczyce Reservoir await. These areas offer swimming areas with a seasonal lifeguard, a children's playground, and water equipment rentals.
