It all started with food and an escape from our constantly hectic lives. We longed for a space for people who love feeding others, not just reheating pizza. That's how we ended up in the hills of Mijas Costa, where we embrace the retirement vibe with the energy of 40-somethings.
Our Casa Verde is 119 square meters nestled within the Andalusian architecture of a modern pueblo blanco. Imagine a cascading labyrinth of white, filled with the scent of sun-warmed earth and hibiscus, and the only distinct sound is birdsong. The heart of this haven is the fully equipped kitchen. Mornings awaken with the aroma of strong coffee, while long evenings are spent testing recipes for Andalusian ajoblanco and baked eggplant with local cane honey. With insanely fragrant plates and chilled Cartojal wine, you'll eventually find yourself on the large terrace, soothingly blown by the crisp breeze off the Alborán Sea. For most of the year, this is your main living room and vantage point, from which the sea ripples on the horizon and, at times, Africa looms.
Once you've had your fill of cicadas and the views, three bedrooms will comfortably sleep six people in cool sheets. If the noisy resorts give you the shivers, the surrounding area offers respite. Here, you'll find the Senda Litoral – a wooden footbridge suspended just above the crashing waves – and the wild Artola dunes, spared from developers.

That's us: Ania & Tomek. We dreamed of a place where time slows down and the only alarm is birdsong. That's how Casa Verde was born – our family enclave in the hills of Mijas Costa. The apartment reflects the character of a modern pueblo blanco, where white architecture intertwines with cascading greenery. Although we have the energy of 40-year-olds, we love the "retirement vibe" here: relaxing with a book on the terrace, overlooking the sea, and the lack of rush.
