A forest vacation without a forester is like a cruise around the world without a map. Fortunately, we have Piotrek, who knows everything about our Roztocze forests and will take care of you as carefully as deer in their feeder. He'll help you rent skis or bikes, suggest the best routes, and show you places you won't find in the best guidebooks. He'll also organize local delicacies for you: cheeses, honey, meats, mushrooms, and seasonal delights.
Besides the forester's care, we also have a nearby Volunteer Fire Department. So, all you'll have to worry about is admiring nature (from the terrace, from the saddle, or in a kayak) and relaxing (in warm bubbles or by the fire). Alternatively, you'll have a difficult choice between pierogi in Józefów and watching wild horses in Zwierzyniec. Personally, we recommend trying a little of everything and then relaxing away from civilization, under the discreet shelter of the rustling forest.
You'll be relaxing in a comfortable, two-story cottage for up to 8 people, with a view directly onto the forest wall. We've planned the space so no one gets in each other's way.
On the ground floor, you'll find a cozy living room with a fireplace and access to a large, covered terrace, a fully equipped bathroom, and a smaller, intimate bedroom.
Upstairs, you'll find two large, spacious bedrooms and a second bathroom (which means no more morning queues for the shower!).
Beds (tailored to your needs): We have a total of 3 bedrooms. Each has comfortable single beds, which can be quickly combined into large double beds – just let us know which arrangement suits you best!
The entire experience is complemented by a huge, covered terrace, where coffee tastes best – whether it's sunny or raining.
Eat whatever you want, whenever you want! Our cottages are self-catering, meaning you have access to a fully equipped kitchen. You can cook leisurely breakfasts there and head outside in the evenings – there's a designated firepit and barbecue area, perfect for roasting sausages or vegetables under the starry sky. Just remember, coffee never tastes as good as in the morning on our terrace overlooking the forest.
But it would be a sin not to try Roztocze!
While in the area, be sure to hunt down some local favorites. Must-trys include the famous **pieróg biłgorajski** (a savory baked dish made with buckwheat, potatoes, cottage cheese, and mint – insane!), crispy Lublin onion rolls, farm cheeses, and dishes drizzled with local Christmas oil.
An epic dinner spot:
When you don't feel like cooking, we have an absolutely must-visit place for you. You must visit the epic fish fryer – **Pstrąg Roztoczański**. They serve exceptional, fresh trout raised in the crystal-clear, swift-flowing rivers of Roztocze. Oven-roasted fish, traditionally fried or smoked, served in an idyllic setting, is a must-see for any trip to Roztocze!
Will I be bored?
With us, boredom is a luxury you can afford, but you don't have to! Roztocze is a magical part of Poland where you can do nothing for a week or return to the cottage every day with pleasantly sore muscles. The choice is yours.
For a lazy day, around the cottage:
If you simply want to disconnect from the world, the village is your playground. You can run barefoot on the grass, play football, and in season, go mushroom picking straight from the terrace. Evenings are a ritual with us: you light a bonfire, jump into a hot tub filled with bubbles, or bask in the sauna, and above you there's only the forest and a star-studded sky.
For active people – on two wheels and on the water:
* Bikes: It's a cycling paradise! We're just a stone's throw from the famous Green Velo trail. And if you prefer a more intense experience, the Józefów Singletrack awaits right next door – a well-maintained trail through the forest. * Kayaking: Kayaking down Roztocze rivers (Wieprz or Tanew) is an absolute hit. The water is clear, shallow, and the views from river level are stunning.
* Summer swimming: When the heat is pouring down, local reservoirs (including those in Józefów and Krasnobród) come to the rescue, offering a swim and a spot of sunbathing on the beach.
Winter in Roztocze:
Who said you have to go to the high mountains for skiing? You'll find excellently prepared ski slopes nearby (e.g., in Jacnia), and our forests transform into perfect cross-country skiing trails in winter.
Local folklore:
* How about a sleigh ride? We organize them not only in the winter on snow, but also in the summer (on wheels), with torches and a truly authentic atmosphere!
What to see nearby (our "must-see"):
* Szumy nad Tanewą and Czartowe Pole Nature Reserves: Magical walks through forest gorges, along streams with cascades (so-called "szumy"), and the ruins of a former paper mill.
* Towers and Observation Towers: We recommend climbing the tower in Józefów, from which you can admire the impressive nearby quarry.
* Echo Reservoir in Zwierzyniec: Be sure to visit to see wild Polish Koniks strolling along the shore, and then stroll to the famous Church on the Island.
* Zagroda Guciów: A magical open-air museum with 19th-century cottages. Time stands still there, and the food (the flatbreads!) is a masterpiece.
Here, kids get their knees dirty, breathe deeply, and collapse from exhaustion in the evening (much to the delight of their parents!). Nature is the best playground, and our Village was created so that both young and old can find their own paradise.
What awaits our youngest guests?
A playground without boundaries, but with a fence: We have plenty of green space. You can run barefoot on the grass, play football, hide-and-seek, or head straight from the terrace into the forest with your parents to search for the biggest mushroom.
Water fun: Kids love our hot tub (the outdoor bubbles are a hit!), which they can enjoy under your supervision. And in summer, we recommend the nearby reservoirs (in Józefów or Krasnobród) with their sandy beaches, perfect for building sandcastles.
Adventures with thrills: The shallow and calm rivers of Roztocze are perfect for first-time family kayaking trips. A summer (or winter!) sleigh ride with torches will also be a blast.
Animal encounters: Be sure to take your little ones to Echo Reservoir in Zwierzyniec – the wild Polish horses that roam the shore are truly captivating.
Terrace command base: When it rains, our large, covered terrace transforms into the perfect spot for playing board games.
And what about parents? Peace of mind! You can sit comfortably on the terrace with a coffee and keep an eye on your children while they play, with the forest literally at your fingertips.
Workation in Roztocze? Sure!
We understand that sometimes escaping the hustle and bustle of the city doesn't mean completely escaping emails. If you're coming to work remotely or simply need to finish an important project between a walk in the woods, we have the perfect conditions for that.
Here's your forest office:
Good and stable internet: We know you can't do without it. Our internet will easily handle video conferences, sending large files, and an evening Netflix binge.
Quiet Zone (upstairs): We've set up comfortable desks in two large bedrooms upstairs. These are your private sanctuaries – perfect for when you have an important call or need complete isolation and focus (away from the rest of the team downstairs).
Working in the Command Center (downstairs): A large table awaits in the living room. It's perfect for spreading out papers, working as a team, or simply typing away while enjoying a view of the crackling fire in the fireplace.
Open-air office: Our huge, covered terrace also offers good signal strength. Take our word for it – replying to messages with a view of the forest and a hot cup of coffee in hand feels less painful.
And the best thing about working from Osady Szopowe is that the moment you close your laptop, your vacation begins. A hot tub and forest trails await right outside your door!
