This story began in the 1970s, when my grandparents, Marytka and Zdzich, bought a plot of land on the banks of the Narew River. They dreamed of a summer house and first built a small cottage made of recycled boards, which quickly became overgrown with vines. Only years later, with their teenage son, did they realize their dream of building a cottage with a chimney. And in the Podhale style, as they themselves came from Krakow and Lviv, and that style was closest to them. They spent every weekend and summer there, and I would visit them every year to pick up milk, watch the fireflies, and join my grandfather as he cut wood in the carpentry shop.

Now it's my turn, and I renovated this place mostly with my own hands, so I can share with you what I love most. You can sit here together at the table my grandfather made and listen to the creaking of a house that loves to tell its story. Go fishing by the river, kayak down the tranquil Wkra River. Teach your children how to hammer nails and build a fire. Browse family heirlooms and feel as if time has stood still in the countryside.

On the mezzanine floor, there's a double bed and two single beds. Grandpa's room has a double bed. Baby's room has a single bed. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor. The ground floor also features a shared fireplace area with a dining table made by Grandpa, a kitchen, and a bathroom. I have two cots as extra beds.

My neighbor sometimes sells eggs from happy hens. I recommend Gościniec nad Narwią – it's the closest place to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, and for dessert, the Sweet Home Confectionery in Pomiechówek. Besides that, it's all about your own culinary creativity.

It's worth stopping here. Run barefoot on the grass, lift your face to the sun. Experience being there—recharge your batteries without rushing. Sit in a sunny orchard, descend the ravine to the river, gaze, reflect... Or spend time actively in the area. Kayake on the tranquil Wkra River, revel in the Zegrze Reservoir, fish on the Narew, Vistula, and Wkra rivers. There's atmosphere, there's history, there's family. I'm waiting for you.

The next generation of children is learning to hammer nails and light a fire here. They observe animals in the nearby forest, go mushroom picking and build a hut, and organize "night expeditions" to the river. Fewer screens, more room for imagination and the gifts of nature. I feel it, it makes me happy, so I want to share.

For the youngest, besides carefree time on a green plot, I recommend a walk among the treetops, a zip-line ride, and the beach in nearby Pomiechówek. It's worth visiting the Modlin Fortress, listening to stories about the animals at the Goławice Farm, and pedaling along the nearby trails, stopping for delicious ice cream and a snack at the patisserie.

Poor internet is a good start to detox.
