The 1980s were a difficult time for summer house construction. My dad found a house design in a brochure in a reading room in Gdańsk and began work. It took years, mostly done by himself. Every year we came here for vacation with my parents. There was no water, so a friend of ours would bring it to us in a water tanker. A carefree time.

The time has come when I can share our summer house and all its charm with other families. I followed in my dad's footsteps and renovated the cottage in Krzeszna myself, and working on it has been a lot of fun. Not to mention the gardening – if you want to try it and plant a part of the plot, feel free to do so. Digging in the dirt is relaxing. Lazy moments on the terrace, days by the water, and even a touch of luxury: moments in the small forest spa I've created in a corner of the garden bring rest. The lake is 400 meters away. The garden is surrounded on three sides by forest, and beyond the fence grow wild blueberries, raspberries, and mushrooms. Besides deer and hares, bats sometimes visit. And sometimes an owl rests in the chimney. Such are the delights of summer in Kashubia.

The house I'm inviting you to is approximately 60 m². It sits on a large plot (600 m²) bordering the forest, nestled in a lush, well-kept garden. A short stroll will take you to the neighboring Patulskie Lake.

On the ground floor are a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
On the first floor: two bedrooms. One bedroom with a balcony and two beds (one double and one single), and a small bedroom with two single beds.

"Owl in the Chimney" is my family's former, renovated summer house. It's showing its age, with wooden windows reminiscent of times gone by, and it's not a perfect, polished place. However, it does have a brand new bathroom and a fresh, well-equipped kitchen, where you'll feel comfortable. This is a house with soul for those seeking a cozy place for an idyllic vacation.

You can prepare your own meals in the kitchen. The nearest restaurants are in the villages of Krzeszna or Gołubie, approximately 3 km from the cottage.

Forest fruit lovers can enjoy seasonal blueberries, wild raspberries, and strawberries. Fruit grows on the property and behind the fence. Do you enjoy scrambled eggs with chanterelles? Fresh chanterelles are just a few steps away.

Kashubia offers lakes, rivers, forests, and even a ski slope. There are numerous horse farms nearby. There's a sheepfold nearby. Swimming under the stars? We've got it! Night swimming with fireflies. Perfect.

What else?

– You can swim, fish, or hop on a stand-up paddleboard at the neighboring Lake Potulskie.
– Wieżyca is just a few minutes away – climb the observation tower and see Kashubia from above.
– Go for a walk or bike ride along the trails of the Kashubian Landscape Park.
– In winter, the Koszałkowo–Wieżyca Ski Resort is open – the slopes are perfect for both a first-time skier and a quick warm-up.
– Visit the Regional Education and Promotion Center in Szymbark – the Upside-Down House is just the beginning of the attractions.
– In nearby Kartuzy, visit the collegiate church with its distinctive roof (some say coffin-shaped) and stroll along the lakes.
– Go kayaking on one of the Kashubian rivers.
– If you enjoy good food, check out local fish and chip shops and Kashubian restaurants during your trips – it's worth trying ruchanki, Kashubian herring, and Brzadowa soup.

Sometimes, very little is enough for children. Frogs, mice, and various beetles lurk in the thick grass. Lizards bask in the rockery. Dragonflies, bats, and anything else that buzzes and bites fly. We also have a sandbox, toys, and hammocks. There's plenty of space to run and be creative. We paint, draw, and play games.

The lady of the house has already been working remotely from home. The kitchen table can be converted into a desk. Currently, internet access is only available through her own phone's HotSpot. I know it's inconvenient, so perhaps it's better to opt for an offline trip... something to think about :) However, fiber optic is knocking on our door, but the date is still unknown.
