At a glance
If you're going to the Tatra Mountains, it's the Krzeptowski family's. This beautiful wooden house, made of logs, was built in the 1960s by the famous owners of the mountain hut in the Valley of Five Lakes (my grandparents, Maria and Andrzej), and has been in our family ever since. We recently renovated it, taking great care to preserve its Tatra spirit while also ensuring the comfort of our guests. We wanted to maintain a sense of closeness to nature and the mountain peaks. To avoid distractions, we've replaced the televisions with a piano, a spacious bookcase, and binoculars for nature observation. Downstairs, there's a large room for group gatherings, and a flower-filled garden surrounded by mature trees invites you to relax together.
Thanks to our location at the very foot of the Western Tatras, at the mouth of the Kościelisko Valley, on the edge of a forest and the Kirowa Woda River, you won't find a better place to head into the Tatras, hit the slopes, or simply gaze, listen, and breathe in the mountain air. Without boasting, you won't find such views in nearby Zakopiec, so come to Kościelisko.

My name is Marta Krzeptowska, and I'd like to invite you to my place – Dom Knieja, which I run with my husband, Jan Wierzejski.
The mountains have always been an important part of my life. It's here that I feel most at home – among the forests, trails, wooden houses, and people who know how to stop for a moment and enjoy simple things.
Knieja is more than just a place to stay. It's an old, wooden house with a history that I decided to renovate and bring back to life. I wanted to preserve its character and soul, while also creating a comfortable and welcoming place for those who come here to relax.
I love it when the house is filled with the buzz of conversation, the smell of wood, good coffee, and someone who returns from a long day of hiking with a smile on their face. I relax best close to nature, and that's exactly the kind of atmosphere I wanted for Knieja – peaceful, unconstrained, and a bit homey.
I'll be happy to advise you on where to go, which route to choose, and where to find peace and beautiful views. I hope you'll feel what I feel here, that Knieja is a piece of the real Podhale, a place you'll want to return to.
You're welcome.
Marta
