At a glance

Our old Warmian house stands in a suburb of the village of Bredynki, on five hectares of meadows and an old orchard. It's not easy to find. There's no fence, beyond which begins another plot with a modern barn-like cottage. Once or twice a day, cows from the neighboring pasture approach the house. Occasionally, a farmer passes through our field, a fox, or a deer runs across. Other than that, there's pretty much nothing going on. The orchard boasts old apple, cherry, currant, and plum trees – for picking and eating. We have bicycles on site, and they're old too. There's a fire pit, a patch of meadow, and plenty of space to simply wander around.

This place is like a crumpled, blurry childhood photograph. You have to love it with all its imperfections, the creaking of the boards, and the living nature that likes to peek in from time to time. We fell head over heels in love with it and can't imagine life without its slow, rural rhythm and the smell of hay. Whenever we can, we take our work to the shade of a cherry tree, then set up a chess set against the barn wall. You probably have other ideas for escaping to nature, but Bredynki definitely has a place for them.

Sometimes we are on-site, sometimes we're not

I'm a musician. For six years, I've been based in Warmia, but I live in Warsaw. I'm a lover of art, from film and music to literature. Ostatnia Łąka is the house in Warmia that Marta and I run. We bought it a few years ago as a complete ruin. Everyone was urging us to tear it down. We didn't listen. We didn't want to build a new house right away, but we wanted to be able to visit this magical place as soon as possible, which we now share with others.
