Listen, before you come here, be sure to do some shopping, because we guarantee you won't want to leave. And the nearest store is a dozen or so kilometers away. We renovated our old cottage mostly with our own hands and according to our own ideas. It's perfect for an adult couple or a well-connected foursome who want to spend a quiet and inspiring time amid the wild forests of the Ińsko Landscape Park. For us, this is the true land of Mokosz – fertile land, wild nature, and life-giving water. We took Mokosz as the matriarch of this habitat and promised ourselves to care for it in harmony with ourselves and the animal neighbors who came before us. We have created a haven free from violence, including towards the animals living in the forest and lake. Fishing is prohibited on our pier, but you can sail out onto the lake, which is a quiet zone (sometimes with a cat on board), and immerse yourself in the sounds and colors of the wild.

During your stay, we'll be your neighbors, and we might even meet you on the way to the lake, as it passes through our shared garden. You'll certainly cross paths with Koszka and Mafik, our cats, but we'll keep the dogs on leashes. We'd love to meet you, support you, and offer advice, but you'll certainly have plenty of peace, because we love him too. We invite you to the haven watched over by Mokosz, the Slavic weaver of our fates.

About the cottage:
Mokoszanka is a wooden cottage with blue windows, two terraces, a jacuzzi, a garden, and its own lakeside pier – just outside the gate. On the ground floor, there's a bright living room with a kitchenette, fireplace, and access to the terrace, as well as a bathroom with a toilet. On the first floor, there's a bedroom with a double bed and a study with a sofa that can serve as a second bedroom. The cottage measures 45 m². It's best suited for couples, but four people can live comfortably if they get along well.
When modernizing the interior, we made sure it had plenty of light, natural materials (wood, brick, jute, linen), and eco-friendly solutions. We did a lot of our own work during the renovation and interior design phases. The branch coat rack that hangs in the hallway was made by Ania, who has a knack for carpentry. She sanded, filled, and varnished the floors, while I (Kinga) worked on the walls and ceilings. We sought to renovate, utilize, and breathe new life into what already belonged to this place. Hence the striking bathroom tiles and retro cabinets in various rooms. The result: unpretentious, solid, comfortable, and relaxed.

About the area:
Our home is located on the northern, wildest shore of Lake Ińsko. It is surrounded by the forests of the Ińsko Landscape Park, a Natura 2000 site, and adjacent to numerous nature reserves. It is a land of vast forests, moraine hills, ravines, boulder fields, meadows and farmland, wetlands, and lakes. Glacial Lake Ińsko is characterized by its great depth and very clean, clear water. From water level, the lake resembles a maze of bays, peninsulas, and in places, steep shores. It is a quiet zone. It's a haven for many rare species of mushrooms, plants, and animals (lynx and bison can be found here, and a family of badgers and raccoon dogs live behind the fence, while black storks and white-tailed eagles nest here). This area is sparsely inhabited. Our settlement has only a few houses, mostly summer houses. It's a place nested in the middle of the forest and on the shoreline, away from noisy roads and light smog.

About the patron saint:
Why "Mokoszanka"? In Slavic mythology, Mokosz is the great goddess Mother Earth. She is the protector of nature and all forms of life, whose special domain was fertile soil and life-giving water (rain, lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands). She is also considered the one who weaves the thread of human fate and destiny—influencing life and death. When we first arrived in this place, in the Ińskie Lake District, it became obvious to us that this was truly the land of the Mokosz and our matriarch.

We offer a variety of teas, cocoa, good coffees, and spices. Herbs grow in a pot on the terrace, and in season, right outside the cottage, you'll find porcini mushrooms, birch boletes, and saffron milk caps. The forest is rich in mushrooms, raspberries, and blackberries, and sometimes you can even find divinely flavored Hungarian plums, pears, or mirabelles in the middle of nowhere or along a forest path – traces of the presence of the region's ancient inhabitants. The kitchen is fully equipped (with a dishwasher, under-counter refrigerator, blender, toaster, espresso machine, washer-dryer, and more) and convenient enough to prepare a meal or picnic snacks (a picnic basket is also included :). There's a grill and a fire pit – a cast-iron cauldron and sticks for toasting bread or marshmallows over the fire. It's best to stock up on groceries before coming to us – the nearest shops are a dozen or so kilometers away (unless you take a shortcut through the forest – that would be several kilometers) – and we warn you, you probably won't want to leave here to go to the store. There's a pizzeria and restaurants in Ińsko, but forget about delivery.

The cottage boasts a large library, with something for everyone. There are board games, puzzles, albums, and tourist guides to the area. You'll also find coloring books, crosswords, and Sudoku puzzles. There are also binoculars for birdwatchers and a plant drying press for avid botanists. A stand-up paddleboard, kayak, and rowboat are available. You can let your thoughts drift away in one of the loungers or hammocks right by the cottage or by the lake. The terrace is perfect for yoga, or you can jump rope (you'll find some in the closet). The lake water is clean and clear—perfect for snorkeling and spotting fish, crayfish, and snails. You can swim naked, run barefoot on the grass, or venture into the beautiful forest. Roast marshmallows over the campfire or sit by the fireplace. A gentle descent down the shore or via a ladder from the pier also allows for safe winter swimming. And on cloudless nights, the starry sky is breathtaking (best admired from the jacuzzi). With a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights! It's a paradise for naturalists, mushroom pickers, water enthusiasts, cyclists (the beautiful Western Lake District Trail), hikers, and those who enjoy cultural life (nearby Ińsko is a city of festivals).

We have pretty good internet here in the middle of the forest (mobile for now, but fiber optic will be available soon). So if you absolutely need to get some work done or fancy a workation, we invite you. You can comfortably sit at the desk in the study with your laptop, lounge on the couch in front of the fireplace, or on the terrace overlooking the greenery. Phone reception can be poor (unless you decide to call right by the lake), but enabling WiFi calling on your smartphone can save the day.
