Do the Czechs have a sea? Maybe so. That's what Lipno, a water reservoir on the Vltava River, is called. Czechs go here for kayaking, windsurfing or just to the beach. Lipno is only 15 minutes away. And if you don't have time to go to the south of Europe, you can also spend a water holiday in the forests of the Šumava foothills.
Haven't you heard of this region yet? It's time to catch up on the gaps in your slow tourist textbook. Šumava is located in the southwest of the Czech Republic and stretches along the borders with Germany and Austria. On the Czech side, 680 km² of the most valuable natural areas are protected by the Šumava National Park. It's only an hour's drive away. In addition to being one of the largest continuous forest complexes in Central Europe, Šumava is also really picturesque and mysterious. Full of glacial lakes, peat bogs and mists that hover over the landscape. But before you head out into the wilderness, enjoy your own piece of forest. In Skláře in the Šumava foothills, we have our own piece of land: a piece of tame, quiet and beautiful. In a shelter among the trees, we have built a yurt for you, which only the initiated know about. And maybe even the neighbor's sheep, which sometimes peek in from the pasture. 

The yurt comfortably accommodates 2 people, or a third guest or a child on an extra bed. It will appeal to those who really need to hide from civilization. Mornings scented with the scent of the forest, breakfast on the terrace and evenings full of relaxation in the sauna await you.

The kitchen is spacious and equipped with everything you need.

The surroundings of the yurt offer endless possibilities for lovers of tourism, sports, culture and good food. You can discover the beauties of the Šumava foothills on foot, by bike, by car or by train - the railway station is just a few minutes walk from the accommodation. The yurt is also located right next to a long-distance hiking trail and cycle path, so you just have to step out the door and the adventure can begin. The Lipno region is also great for water sports enthusiasts, fishing and in winter it is a great place for skiers, cross-country skiers and skaters.

A few tips on how to enjoy your time in the area:
– go to Lipno – in summer you can swim, relax on the beach, fish, ride a bike or try water sports,
– walk around Olšina pond – a 7.3 km long nature trail leads through wetlands, forests, wooden walkways and past viewpoints,
– get on your bike – the 74 km long Krumlov cycle route passes Skláře, connecting Hořice na Šumavě, Český Krumlov and the Lipno area,
– take a shorter circuit around Malý Lipno and Olšina – the route is 21 km long and has an elevation gain of 305 m; On the way, you will find a swimming pool, a nature trail and views of the Šumava landscape,
– go on the water – the Lipno area offers kayaks, paddleboards and other water activities,
– take a trip to Český Krumlov – walk through the historical centre, climb the castle tower or stop in the castle gardens,
– go to Hořice na Šumavě – a small town with a long history and a unique Fairytale Reserve,
– put on your cross-country skis in winter – in the surroundings of Lipno and Frymburk you will find a network of groomed cross-country skiing trails, almost 40 km in total,
– go on a bike ride to discover the Lipno region – the local network of cycle paths offers shorter family trips as well as more challenging mountain circuits,
– and if you don’t feel like planning anything, just head into the forest – Skláře is located on the border of Šumava and Lipno, so you just have to set off from your yurt and let the path lead you.
