There are a few things you should know. Our house is located in the smallest landscape park in the Lubuskie Voivodeship. In this case, size really doesn’t matter, because believe me, there’s plenty to do, areas to swim and forests to get lost in. Gryżyna belonged to the Hohenzollerns, and they didn’t have just anything. So to calculate carefully: we have 11 post-glacial lakes, a Polish pony farm, and the whole park can be cycled along. In addition, silence, greenery, a brick house on the edge of the village, a green porch, an old stove, apples from the garden, 200-year-old oak alleys, beech gorges, post-glacial ponds, horses grazing on pastures. To sum it up in one word, it’s idyllic.
We invite you to our old brick house, which stood empty for several years. Today, its century-old heart is beating strongly. We have recently renovated it, with our own hands, preserving the original fabric and respecting every plank on the floor and tile in the oven. You will have it at your own exclusive disposal. It will comfortably fit 8 people (or more if you’d like) in four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. It’s close to the forest, mushrooms at your fingertips, a clean lake; there is no cell service, though, all you have to do is climb the hill near the house to catch a signal. Immerse yourself in Narnia, which leads to a wardrobe painted in flowers from 1934 and rest in a place where you can do anything and everything.
The cottage is small but comfortable: perfect for 6 people, but it can also accommodate another two. There you will find three separate bedrooms with double, wide beds and comfortable mattresses. Upstairs, in the attic, there is an open space with a screen for watching movies and two FUTON mattresses, on which additional people (7 and 8) can sleep if necessary. We also have a wooden baby cot that can be placed in one of the rooms. The downstairs bedrooms are spacious (17 and 20 m2), each with a tiled stove; double beds can be separated if necessary. In the bedroom upstairs, you will find one wide bed made by us from old beams. There are two bathrooms in the cottage - upstairs and downstairs. For your convenience, we provide bedding (never bark;), towels, basic cleaning products, a washing machine, iron and dryer.
The porch we have added with windows overlooking the old oaks has a well-equipped kitchen and a large table. There you will find a fridge, oven, dishwasher and utensils necessary for cooking. We also leave you basic food items such as sugar, flour and spices. In the cottage there is a kitchen tiled stove: on cold days it is nice to light the kitchen, serve pancakes, slowly cook soup or dry mushrooms collected in the forest.
So you can cook yourself, and if you want to take a break from the kitchen, take advantage of the offer of our neighbors who will be happy to prepare something for you from local products. We can supply wine lovers with local wines. In the garden, we have several beds where we grow vegetables in summer, which you can use at will. There are also some good restaurants in the area worth recommending.
There is no shop in Gryżyna itself, but you can buy yourself in nearby towns.
You probably don't know it, but Lubuskie Province is the most beautiful in the world. This is a fact that we do not discuss. There are walking, bicycle and canoe routes, there are streams, lakes and ponds, there are forests and educational paths, there are deer, horses and peace of mind. Gryżyna is amazing at any time of the year, and in autumn it is incredibly beautiful. There are so many mushrooms that some even grow in the garden, for example us.
Let anyone who wants to live a moment in luxury, which is silence, forest, mushroom picking and long walks along oak alleys - give a sign.
Coming back to the oaks. In 1840, the owner of the Grażyna court, the Royal Government Councilor Krause, ordered 16,000 oaks to be planted along the country roads. Today, the oak alleys are almost 200 years old, they are under legal protection and ours, the residents - because trees in Gryżyna do not cut down, they are admired and cared for. Without the oak avenues stretching from the village to the village and to the lake, Gryżyna would not be herself.
A natural attraction that makes an amazing impression is the rut. It is enough to go out on the porch of the house at night to hear how deer roar. Or go a bit further to the stockade on a moonlit night. You can also go to the very heart of the largest rut in Europe - to Dobrosułowskie Łąki, 6 kilometers from here, sit in the grass or in the pulpit and wait. And then come back to Gryżyna, smoke in the oven, drink wine and experience it. Come on over, it only happens once a year.
There is a beautiful, clean, deep and fishy lake near the house. You can rent a pedalo or canoe on site.
We are lucky that the brick house is located in the most beautiful and smallest landscape park in Poland. Between Gryżyna and the village of Grabin and further to Szklarka Radnicka stretches the Gryżyński Landscape Park. The park aims to protect and preserve the landscape and natural values of the glacial gutter and its ponds, lakes and the trout valley of the Gryżynka stream. Those who came here for the first time are not prepared for such views. Because how is it possible that in this seemingly uniform landscape among forests there was a world full of water, colors, beech leaves, alders and oaks. Water flows out of everywhere and nowhere, creating a paradise landscape. It is clear as crystal, it allows you to follow the sandy bottom and pebbles in the water. It is remarkable that nature has not yet been transformed and destroyed by man here, so birds endangered on a European scale, white-tailed eagle, black stork, rust kite, peregrine falcon and kingfisher have found their homes here.
The village itself is also interesting - there is the Hohenzollern Palace, ruins of mills, a former German cemetery, the same architectural layout for a hundred years and not a single concrete fence!
What’s there for children?
If only adults allow children a bit of freedom, holidays in Gryżyna will be the best and will stay in their heads forever. Kids have their own world where sticks turn into rifles, branches into brooms to clean the forest, and sand is the site of dinosaur bones excavation. Crossing the Gryżynka River, with or without galoshes, swimming in a nearby lake with first-class cleanliness, trips to the forest and mysterious ruins. How many generations ahead of them!
The kids may also be interested in the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region, built by the Third Reich, the most technically advanced German fortification system, one of the most interesting facilities of this type in the world. There, the secret is hidden at every step, and such a history lesson is remembered for the rest of your life.
There are also canoeing trips - on the Odra, Obra or the wild Pliszka river. There will be paddling to whet your appetite and a water level sightseeing tour.
