There are still places in the Polish mountains that miraculously managed to avoid commercialisation, shepherd's axes studded with amber and tourists in sandals. The most unique place in the whole mountain massif is the Łapszanka stream located in the valley. Here, storms are governed by Slavic demonic creatures but you can chase them away by ringing the bell in a roadside chapel. When the snow melts, the glades, hills and valleys celebrate the coming of summer, and the sheep happily welcome the changing season. Polish novelist, Wojciech Kuczok spent a carefree childhood here, which he describes in the book "Spiski. Przygody tatrzańskie" (Spiski. Tatra Adventures).
The Pogórze Spiskie foothills and all its charm lie ahead of you. Trout and sturgeon, swimming in the river, green viewing terraces and curtains of icicles. You can pet the cows, go mushroom picking in the evening, collect berries for 1,000 dumplings, ski down or hike uphill. We recommend packing comfortable shoes, warm fleece, sunscreen and tire chains in the winter.
By the Barbarówka stream, there is a house for 8 people, in which spring water flows from the tap, salamanders are domestic animals, children have their daily chores. You don’t sleep very long because you feel regenerated faster. We invite you to our friendly community with the most beautiful panorama in Poland.
In a deep stream valley, close to about 30 waterfalls. You get the impression that this is an alpine village in chocolate Switzerland, but it's not. These are the Tatra Mountains, which are covered with snow for most of the year and look like something out of a fairy tale. A stream is roaring next to the house and cows are grazing. Sheep put grass in the nearby clearing, and in the morning and evening you can meet the real shepherd here.
A wooden house with a modern interior is waiting for lovers of snow, crocuses and crystal air. 8 people will find a place to rest here. Huge windows let nature in and make it really bright. At your disposal is:
- A large living room on the ground floor with a comfortable sofa bed, fireplace and access to the terrace. Once covered with snow up to the armpits, another time green. In front of the house you will find garden furniture, and down the stairs you will descend to a winding mountain stream with a small waterfall.
- Two bathrooms - the lower one with a shower, the upper one with a bathtub.
- A fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare strawberry cake, baked trout, mushroom sauces or gingerbread.
- Dining room with table for 8 people.
- Three bedrooms upstairs for a total of 8 people. Pallet beds can be configured as you like. They can be single or double:
bedroom 1 - bed 160×200,
bedroom 2 - two beds 80×200 for any arrangement,
bedroom 3 - two beds 80×200 for any arrangement.
- Ski room with separate entrance.
At home you will not miss:
- SmartTV with netflix,
- wifi (fiber),
- radio,
- vacuum cleaner,
- irons,
- washing machines,
- clothes dryers,
- hair dryers,
- towels,
- bedding.
Everything that's good has a lot of calories, which in the mountains do not count at all. You'll burn them in the blink of an eye while walking around the countryside. Up, down, up, down. We have a fully equipped kitchen for you and several proven, sometimes secret addresses.
The house has a bright kitchen with a dining room for 8 people with everything you need to enchant a variety of dishes. You can stir the mushrooms in the cauldron, which you bring from walks in baskets, for the more persistent we recommend glueing blueberry dumplings that grow outside the house. Blueberries, not dumplings - unfortunately you have to roll them yourself. You can bake a cake with strawberries in the oven, you will find ice outside the window or in the freezer, and the dishes will wash themselves.
Our favorite, tastiest, secret address in the village, which is always fresh cheese: bunc, oscypki, korbacze, we only reveal to our relatives. It is located in Łapszanka on Kościelna 48, be sure to call before your visit: tel. 18 26 599 48.
In Łapszanka, opposite the school, there is a GSu shop. Despite the fact that the little one can buy everything there. It is open late, with a siesta break.
Opposite the Jurgów Ski station - there is a real treasure of the area. Jurgów Fishing Farm with a trout and sturgeon fishery. The best fish caught in a mountain stream - delicious. You can eat them outdoors from spring to autumn. In winter you can buy fresh fish to take away.
A bit further, in Bukowina, we recommend these addresses:
- Shelter of Tastes - as if luxurious, tasty.
- Bury Miś Restaurant - you won't leave hungry from here.
In Łapszanka, the holiday season lasts all year round, because there is no bad time in the Spišské foothills. Bring fleece jackets, comfortable shoes, water bottles, backpacks and cameras. The equipment will be useful for long hikes and closer walks. In summer, pack your swimwear and water shoes. Mountain water will add health and coolness on hot days. Be sure to go to a beautiful place at the junction of Jaworowy Potok and the Białka River, there will be time for swimming and sunbathing.
You can enrich your breakfast with the gifts of the forest and meadows - blueberries, wild strawberries, mushrooms and edible weeds and herbs.
In summer:
A photographic postcard can be made here in many places. A blanket, good company, highlander macaroni cheese, camera plus the Tatra Mountains at your fingertips. You can, and even should, ride your bikes to many of these viewpoints. We present our top viewpoints in Spisz:
- the nearest pass over Łapszanka,
- Kuśnierzów Wierch,
- Dursztyńskie Rocks,
- Polana pod Groniem,
- Empty Wierch, Piłatówka and Pawlikowski Wierch, which are connected by a ridge (blue trail).
Rafting on the Dunajec River with Raftsmen is an unforgettable experience. Remember that the rafting season lasts from April 1 to October 31. The water route begins at the rafting marina in Sromowce Kąty or at the marina in Sromowce Niżne.
Spectacular treetop walk on the Slovak side. It's time to overcome the fear of heights by climbing to the skies of Bachledova Valley. This is a must-see in our area.
Over Chattą Łapszanka rises Kuraszowski Wierch - the highest peak of the Polish part of the Spiš Foothills. After a hearty breakfast, go for a hike uphill and see the area from the Kurosówka perspective.
In the neighborhood, discover the most popular gorge of the Slovak Paradise - Sucha Bela. It is an impressive rock gorge with a stream flowing in the middle. It is worth going there early in the morning to enjoy the views and not to stand in long lines to the stairs-ladders.
We have plenty of routes for bike fans. Up, down, over rocks, over grass, and on the road. The main bicycle route in the region is Spiska Pętla. It is a trail that requires proper conditioning. It looks like a closed loop that wraps around the Łapsze Niżne Commune. Its parts also run through Slovakia, which makes it an international route. For less initiated athletes, an alternative is mini-loop trails, easier and with a much shorter course.

What’s there for children?
Children know well what to do. They do not need to organize games, encourage them to go outside or break away from the screen. They often have to be called home, because they build igloos out of snow blocks until late in the evening. They have a life like in Bullerby that is unknown in the city. They climb slopes, watch salamanders, pet the cows and go where sheep graze. In winter, they enjoy the joy of snow up to their armpits, go downhill, have a snowball fight and make angels in snowdrifts. In the summer, they build dams on the stream, soak their feet in ice-cold water, play stalking, and then return home, dirty, to catch something to eat on the run. We recommend that you pack your clothes in a suitcase, the more freedom the better.
Often, the integration of immigrant children with those native, rural. What is this fun! This is when crazy and creative ideas are born, friendships and packages are made. Society at 102.
There is a school playground 70 meters from the house, and a new outdoor gym near the church.
