Folwark Mazurskie Legendy (Azyl dla dorosłych)

In an over 100-year-old farm, a farm with a pre-war orchard, a pond and a soul. The farm is located in the Natura 2000 area, on the edge of the Borecka Forest, in the central part of the Masurian Legend Green Velo bicycle trail and in the close vicinity of lakes and meadows. Be warned that in the morning you may be woken up by the chirping of birds, the occasional barking of our Leonka or the neighbor's musical cow. Instead, a frog concert will lull you to sleep every day. For guests we have 4 double rooms with bathrooms. In the rooms we have prepared: bed linen, towels, shower gel, hand washing gel. We want you to feel at ease here, which is why your part of the house (rooms, kitchen and dining room) has a separate entrance. At the bottom of the house there is a kitchen with a dining room where we serve meals and a common terrace in front of the house. The fireplace room, thanks to its location in the building of a pre-war stable with thick stone walls, gives a wonderful refreshment in the summer and warms the fireplace in the autumn and winter evenings.  Our nearest neighbor is about 200m from us, so it is very quiet, although we are adjacent to a country asphalt road from the front, but it is rarely frequented (sometimes there will be a louder motorbike, quad or agricultural machine passing by, but it is rare). From the other sides we are adjacent to fields and the edge of the forest. To sum up - it is quiet here and we respect it very much. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to muddy it and mow hectares of our lawns - as in the countryside. The stable is sparkling clean and smells good, even some people don't believe that horses live there. However, the more sensitive nose can smell the horse's smell. Mosquitoes fly over our romantic pond in the evenings, so it's worth using a repellent before they bite you. There is a free, fenced but unguarded car park in the Folwark. The entrance gate is operated with a remote control.

Our cuisine is simple, authentic and tasty. With meat, gluten and lactose! We prepare breakfasts (buffet, plus a hot dish) and dinners (one hot dish, salads, drinks), using products from local farms and our grocery store. Our talented neighbor Danusia cooks. We will be happy to serve you our local specialties, such as kartacze, stuffing, or fresh fish straight from the pan - if we manage to catch it. NOTE - Meal on the day of arrival: we welcome new guests until 10 p.m., but please note that we do not serve meals after 6 p.m. We go to Roman for milk, potatoes and honey, we get cheese (only in the summer season) from Wiola, fresh cold cuts and meat for dinner are provided by Leszek, and in the summer we have our own vegetables and fruits. Whenever time allows, we bake sourdough wheat-rye bread, with a thick layer of butter on it (if we don't have time, we bring bread from a local bakery). Our orchard grows: apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, sweet cherries, sour cherries, currants and nuts. We have vegetables and herbs in the garden. And there are fish in the pond. During the day, you can drink coffee and tea while relaxing on the sun loungers near the house. However, if you get hungry and decide to look for something tasty, we highly recommend our favorite Restauracja pod Żubrem in Kruklanki (7 km), where we wholeheartedly recommend Russian dumplings. Apart from that, you can also eat well in the Kuchnie Świat restaurant and in Puzzle Smaku in Giżycko (18 km). And if you want a cake, at the U Adama confectionery shop (Giżycko) you will get the best strawberry buns in the world, and at the Prosto z Młynka café (Giżycko) we recommend delicious coffee and home-made donuts. The nearest market where you will get the real, natural gifts of the countryside is in Giżycko (18 km).

The farm is located in the central part of the 102 km long Masurian Legends and Tales Trail (registered in Green Velo), which is why we recommend you both bicycle tours (if you do not have your own bikes, we can lend you ours) and hiking. The trail has no beginning or end, it leads mainly through fields and forests, and is suitable for both amateurs and those who are more skilled in cycling and hiking. On the route you will meet 27 monumental sculptures and read 27 amazing legends related to them. At your fingertips there is the Borecka Forest with the cleanest air in Poland, so it is worth taking a drag on it. Thanks to this specific microclimate, the forest abounds with many rare species of plants and animals, making it a paradise for lovers of nature photography. If you are lucky, while walking around the forest, you will meet European bison (the herd of Borek has about 140 animals), which freely move around the forest. The impatient can see some of them in the show yard in Wolisko (about 4 km from Folwark). There is Lake Żywy nearby, with two intimate beaches. The lake is a quiet zone, fortunately motorboats and water scooters are not allowed here. So you can easily explore the lake from the perspective of a kayak or a rowing boat (available for rent on site). We have two beautiful Gypsy Cob horses that are members of our family and we do not treat them as entertainment. Nevertheless, we share our passion as much as possible and horses willingly provide their long manes for combing and braiding. For lovers of further trips, we recommend visiting Zwalony Most w Kruklanki, Boyen Fortress in Giżycko, Pyramid in Rapa, Viaducts in Stańczyki, Seat of Himmler in Pozezdrze, Seat of Hitler in Gierłoż and bunkers in Mamerki. The area also offers motor-glider flights, canoeing trips, cruises on passenger ships along the Great Masurian Lakes route. You can easily rent bikes, kayaks and rowing boats. Every year in Giżycko it is worth seeing the Masuria Air Show and the famous Shanty Festival, which attracts sailors from many countries. The International Folklore Fair is held in Węgorzewo, and in Kruklanki you can eat harvest festivals. Check the dates, they can be movable. There are no TV sets, but there are books, board games, hosts willing to talk and social animals. Masuria Garbate is also beautiful in winter, regardless of whether it is covered with snow or not. If the weather conditions are good, you can use the nearby ski lift or go ice skating on our pond. After an eventful day, it is worth spending the evening in the cozy fireplace room and talking about life over a cup of steaming tea or a glass of mulled wine.
