At the very beginning of Poland, washed by seawater from all sides on the Hel Peninsula, a shell-white house rises from between the dunes and pines. People say that they feel as if they never leave the beach, they sleep on it, eat and rest. And that is exactly what we wanted. It's almost certain to be spilling out of your pockets for a long time to come when you get home. This is a good thing because, in our experience, such sand works particularly well if it falls out during the greatest darkness in November. And since our house stands outside the centre of the town of Hel - in our opinion, it lights up even more.
The house can accommodate 12 people in four spacious apartments. Be sure to consider taking your bikes, as there is plenty of room to ride. There are schools for all kinds of water sports in the area: surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and even diving.
Rainer Maria Rilke wrote that he goes to the sea whenever he is haunted by difficult and bad thoughts - because the sea drowns them in its sounds. So if you want to air your head, catch some iodine and relax in the soothing sound of the waves - you couldn't have come at a better time.
HOTHEL is a facility consisting of 6 apartments. It is located on a sand dune, surrounded by a pine forest, away from the tourist noise. Just behind the fence, there is a picturesque bicycle path stretching through the entire Hel Peninsula. It is also close to the train station.
Each of the apartments has its own covered terrace with a comfortable seating set, a modern bathroom with a shower, a fully equipped kitchenette, wireless Internet access and a TV with a wide range of satellite channels.
Studio apartments have a double bed, bathroom and kitchenette. On the terrace you can enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. To kill boredom, each apartment has a TV. Both are on the 1st floor.
The Deluxe Apartment has a separate bedroom with a double bed and a living room with a sofa bed, bathroom, kitchenette, terrace and TV.
To the largest apartment - Superior, you have to climb to the 2nd floor. It has a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed and TV, bathroom, kitchenette and two terraces overlooking different sides of the world, where, depending on the time of day, you can sunbathe, laze and eat delicacies.
The 3-person Patio apartment is located on the ground floor. It is larger than the Studio Apartments. Meals are eaten at the bar table, and you can relax on the couch or on the spacious terrace. On the ground floor there is also the largest Premium apartment, which can accommodate 5 people and is equipped with a washing machine and dryer.
Parking spaces are located in front of the building on ul. Amber. In the summer season (June - September) it is an urban paid parking zone, which is why we provide you with a subscription that should be placed behind the windshield. It also entitles you to park in a paid parking zone in the city of Hel. Before leaving, please return the card.
We do not offer meals. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette (dishwasher, hob, fridge, kettle. Coffee machine, dishes, pots, accessories). You can plan meals as it suits you and your plans - it is the house that adapts to you, not you to it.
Nearby there is a large grocery store where you can buy all the necessary items. There is a greengrocer in the season, you must buy fresh fish from the cutter in the port and those prepared for eating in the smokehouse. There is also a bakery nearby and for fans of seaside "classics" there will also be waffle and ice cream booths.
If you want to eat in restaurants, read the reviews and look for those in which they serve seasonal dishes. The most famous and recommended restaurant is Kutter (open all year round) and Tawerna Bałtycka (open only in season) (at the entrance to the sea No. 66). In addition, a large selection of recommendable restaurants and cafes is offered by the nearby Jurata and Jastarnia (here you should rather go by car or bike). For a coffee and cake, go to Caffe Domek or Cafe Classic.
Let's start with the fact that on Hothel it is situated on the edge of a pine forest on sand dunes - out of the way from the main attractions and tourist buzz. There are bicycle, sea and bay routes starting in front of the house, so you can go in a different direction every day. The beach on Hel is huge and it is worth organizing a picnic at sunset there.
If you want to spend your vacation actively, we encourage you to take your equipment or take lessons at a kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing or diving school - because nowhere else in Poland are there such fantastic conditions for learning water sports. Hel also offers a specially marked out, independent of car traffic, bicycle path, which can be reached all the way to Puck (via Jastarnia and Władysławowo). Use our bikes, grab some provisions and go on a day trip.
In addition, in the summer season, the International Summer Festival of Culture and Art is organized in Hel (chamber, operetta, shanty, Kashubian, French and Italian Baroque concerts), there is an open-air cinema, historical reenactments, concerts and outdoor sports activities (e.g. yoga on the beach!). You should also visit the seal sanctuary (necessarily at feeding time!).
In case of bad weather, there are many museums in Hel which are worth visiting: the Fisheries Museum, the Museum of Hel Railways and the Hel narrow-gauge railway - despite its size, Hel boasts an extensive railway infrastructure. History and military enthusiasts will find themselves on the Trail of Hel Fortifications and the Military History Trail of the Northern Kashubia, where there are many historic war installations (shelters, launchers, bunkers, etc.), and the Coastal Defense Museum will simply be the icing on the cake.
It is also worth going along the Kashubian Fishing Tradition, where old fishing houses, ports and lighthouses are marked.
What’s there for children?
As it is at the seaside - the youngest ones will need paddles, molds and sand, which we have in abundance. The elderly will eat the waffle after swimming in the sea and most likely they will die of fatigue, and for older people it is worth taking books or games to kill any evening boredom.
There are safe bicycle paths around Hothel, so it is worth taking the bikes with the whole family and going across the peninsula to Władysławowo or even Puck. It is also worth visiting our Hel seals (ul. Morska 2) during their feeding time (there are also lectures then) at: 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:30 and 17:00.
Active kids are encouraged to go to the rope park (next to the promenade, beach entrance no. 66). There are three routes of varying difficulty in the park: low, medium and high - so everyone can handle it. Additionally, you can take a zip-line, ride a rope with a scooter, pull a punching bag between trees, cross a canoe (!) And play classes 1.5 meters above the ground.
