She can be quiet and calm, but she also likes the buzz of evening talks and meetings with friends. He has been part of my family for a long time. Kamratka, or friend, confidant. This is what this house is for me and I want it to be for my guests too.
Over 30 years ago, my parents bought a piece of land in the charming village of Powałczyn, near Lake Nożyce. It was adjacent to a forest and a country road. It tempted with fresh air, clean water in the lakes and the undisturbed peace of the tiny town. They built a wooden house there, which became my favorite place, a longed-for asylum. Over the years, he has witnessed family events, eighteen, New Year's Eve and idyllic picnics. Then the specter of parting appeared for a moment: the house was about to be sold. The protest was quick and effective - Kamratka stayed with me. Now, after a complete renovation, it delights me and my guests again with the beauty of a Masurian house in a modern version.
The house is located in the Masurian village of Powałczyn, surrounded by forests. The nearest lake - Nożyce - is a few minutes' walk away, a bit further there are other: Piasutno and Świętajno. The building is surrounded by a garden - the apple of the housewife's apple - and an old forest grows behind the fence.
Kamratka has been renovated in such a way as to maintain the atmosphere of a warm Masurian homestead, on the one hand, and to add a bit of a fresh, modern elegance on the other.
There are five bedrooms inside. On the first floor there are three of them (two with double beds, one with two single beds) and a toilet. On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, each one for one person.
On the ground floor there is a spacious living room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a dining area, a bathroom with shower and toilet and - separately - a second toilet. The living room opens onto a covered terrace - the perfect place for an outdoor family dinner.
The idea was that in the kitchen of this house you could find everything that would enable efficient and comfortable cooking for the whole family. So there are all the utensils, pots and dishes, and even a waffle maker. There are also places where you can eat together - a dining table in the kitchen and another on the terrace. On warm evenings, you can arrange a fire - there is a special place in the garden for it.
In summer, we recommend going to the forest for wild strawberries and blueberries, and in autumn - for chanterelles and canoes.
For lunch or dinner, you can go to a nearby agritourism, where they serve delicious Polish cuisine. You will get there along a forest road (approx. 4 km). Good restaurants can be found in Szczytno (23 km) and Rozogi (26 km).
Kamratka has been in our family for many years and there is a reason for this: its location guarantees a good time. In summer, you can go to the lake wearing flip-flops and spend the whole day on the pier. In autumn, you wander through old, vast forests in search of mushrooms. After the season it is quiet and peaceful - you can sit on a bench on the beach and watch the birds or take a bike ride around the area. Here are some other things you can do here:
- take Nordic walking poles (on site) and walk a few good kilometers along forest paths
- lie down in the garden in a hammock and unwittingly spend the afternoon in the world of books
- go on a bicycle trip (we have 6 bikes for you), which we especially recommend - in our opinion, there is no better way to get to know the beautiful corners of this area
- sunbathe on a deckchair
- arrange a barbecue on the terrace - the roof is there, so even the rain will not be terrible for you
- take an inflatable kayak under your arm (and a pump and a paddle - all in place), go to the lake and swim
- go to the stable in Sask, where wonderful people and wonderful animals live. If you go horse riding it is right there!
- go canoeing on the Krutynia River or take a boat trip on it (there is an evening option: with torches). We have known the organizers for a long time - we will share our information with you.
- visit Leśniczówka Pranie, a magical place where there are, among others The Gałczyński Museum. There are also concerts, recitals and other cultural events attended by well-known and respected musicians and actors.
- listen to one of the summer organ concerts that take place every year in the church in nearby St. Lipce
- take part in concerts during "Days and Nights of Szczytno" (every year during the summer holidays)
What’s there for children?
The house is not adapted to children, so we invite older children (over 6 years of age). We know from our own experience that for kids to have fun, all they need is a garden, good weather and fresh air, and they will not miss it. From the parent's perspective, the garden is the perfect size - children have nowhere to play hide and seek, but at the same time you can keep an eye on them. The house is fenced.
There is a beach by the nearest (clean) lake, perfect for children's games.
