Bronisław Piłsudski, an outstanding ethnologist and brother of Marshal Józef Piłsudski lived here before World War I. Tytus Chałubiński, Stanisław Witkiewicz and Henryk Sienkiewicz also paid this place a visit. And it all began with the great-great-grandfather, Professor Edward Kornistowicz, who bought and expanded the charming house in Bystrem in 1896. He loved the Tatra Mountains and in the interest of preserving the expansion of Zakopane in the Tatra valleys, he bought plots of land from highlanders looking to build on them. His son Tadeusz inherited his father's passion and proved himself as a nature protection activist, mountaineer, spearhead and mountain rescuer TOPR.
That's enough of history, now here's something for lovers of relaxing in unusual places.
The house is one of the oldest buildings in Zakopane. It is surrounded by a large garden that borders directly with the Tatra National Park. It smells of old wood, and the inside welcomes you with a bright, glass interior. You don't have to move from the sofa to feel that you arrived in the mountains. A large garden can be seen from the veranda as well as Giewont and Kasprowy Wierch in the distance. The sharp eye (with the help of binoculars) will see the lift on the Gąsienicowa route. Aged trees invite you to walk deeper into the garden, up to the borders of the Tatra National Park Lagoon. What you have here is beautiful meadows and glistening lights of lifts. An additional attraction of the garden is the historic Chapel, a drawing of Witkiewicz, which can be seen in full glory from ul. Karłowicz.
We invite everyone who is looking for history, the atmosphere of olden times, modern comfort or simply a place where children feel good. We hope that you will feel a special atmosphere that Sienkiewicz found here.

Every day we live anchored near the forest, but close to a large city. Korniemowiczówka is our connection with what is important to us: family roots, wildlife behind the house fence, beloved skis and trips to the mountains.
