In Bożkowice, a quiet village by Lake Leśniańskie on the border of Lower Silesia and Lusatia, there is a house that deserved to be given a chance for a new life. Fortunately, people with big hearts, good taste and passionate enthusiasm found it. Imagine an over 100-year-old house made of stone and red brick with the scent of mint. It is bathed in the lush green of tall spruce, birch, apple trees, plum trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables, among which two Bernese Mountain Dogs run - Feri and Bari. The best companions for walks in the area. There is a place to rest, drink local beer, lie in a hammock and have fierce conversations with interesting people.
But let's start from the beginning. We met Miętowe Wzgórze (Mint Hill) when it was in a deplorable state. The house bore unmerciful traces of countless attempts to adapt it to postwar needs confronted with scarcity. We did what we could, but it was impossible to recreate the original without traces: to this day, some original solutions are a mystery to us.
Instead, we unraveled the story of the house's inhabitants. It was probably built in 1910 for the Wünsch family: Oswald and Ermina and their four children. Storey, with a basement, on a farm built traditionally on a horseshoe plan. The turmoil of war changed the owners of the house in 1945. The Nowakowski family lived in Bożkowice at number 24. We appeared here in 2007. And since then - together with our guests - we have been creating another chapter in the history of this place. Now we can share with you misty mornings, the view of the Czocha Castle reflected in the surface of the lake, pancakes with blueberries in Chata Górzystów, sunset walks, cross-country skiing in Stóg Izerski and evenings spent together. This is definitely our place. We want to stay here and be part of this idyll. Will you join us?
In an atmospheric old house from 1910, in a quiet village by a lake, on the border of Lower Silesia and Lusatia. Built of stone and brick. After careful renovation, we have created a warm corner for those seeking relaxation. From the windows there is a fascinating view of the mountains and the lake. There is a spacious garden around the house where you can hide and walk. Behind the fence, a forest smelling of mushrooms.
The interiors have been tastefully arranged so as to gently combine simple, contemporary style with tradition, carefully revealing the history of a country house.
At your sole disposal, we offer a cozy living room, where you can play a game of board games or simply spend a nice time doing nothing. A well-kept flower garden grows near the house - a place to play, laze or read in the shade of an old ash tree.
We offer four rooms at your disposal, where up to 10 people can rest comfortably.
On the ground floor:
• two double studios with a kitchenette and a separate bathroom with shower, each with a double bed,
• next door, on the same floor, there is also a cozy library full of various books, with a comfortable fold-out couch for 2 additional people, if needed, to accommodate a larger group.
In the attic:
• a two-level apartment for 4 people: a bedroom with a double bed and a large living space and two comfortable single mattresses on the mezzanine; of course with its own bathroom with a bathtub and a kitchenette.
All rooms have private bathrooms. Bathrooms have towels, soap and hair dryer.
In the kitchenette there is coffee, several types of teas and herbs. We provide wood for a bonfire / grill (additional fee 25 PLN). Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
We like to cook, discover regional flavors and celebrate long meals. In each room you will find a well-equipped kitchenette with a dining area. At your request, we also serve breakfasts made with a heart using products from local suppliers, served in the room, for PLN 25 per person.
For tireless chefs, there is a garden grill with a smokehouse and a quiet place for a bonfire.
For those who run away from the daily duty of stirring in pots, we will, of course, reveal the addresses of worthy restaurants - in the immediate and distant surroundings.
Forget your responsibilities and do nothing. Rest, chill, nap in the hammock, pet the dogs, go for walks, read books, play board games and enjoy the country life. In a few minutes you will reach the lake, where on hot days you can take a bath or rent equipment to swim on the lake, and admire the Czocha Castle from the boat. Attention, we warn you - this view knocks you off your feet.
What to discover in the area:
- the secrets of the Czocha Castle on the other side of the Kwisa River - its slender towers are clearly visible from the windows of Miętowe Wzgórze,
- you can climb or ride a bike to Stóg Izerski, try your hand at singletracks, cross-country skiing in Jakuszyce in winter, and skiing everywhere around. Summer hiking is worth ending with blueberry pancakes in Chata Górzowców or admiring the panorama from the unusual observation tower in the Czech Smrk,
- attractions of the Western Sudetes, also on the Czech and German sides, especially the charm of Renaissance tenement houses in the charming town of Zittau,
- the richness of the Valley of Palaces and Gardens of the Jeleniogórska Valley and the secrets of the Książ Castle,
- ceramic workshops in Bolesławiec with obligatory shopping (about 30 minutes from us),
- the original taste of the local cuisine, unique due to the contact of three grains and the wealth of regional brewing, especially the brewery in Lwówek Śląski, which brews the oldest beer in Poland,
- for motorists, we highly recommend one-day trips to Prague or Dresden.
It is also worth checking the calendar of regional events of our borderland. We invite you to the Lwówek Agatowe Summer, the Gwarków Run or the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival, not to mention countless flea markets or eco-markets with regional products.
