Monasteria

Add the name of your place

Location Hiszpania, Andaluzja subregion, Frigiliana
We are not going to exaggerate to make things look better than they are. Monasteria is located on a cobbled, free of car traffic street at the highest and oldest part of Andalusian "pueblo blanco". Colouring its reality is completely unnecessary. Whitewashed walls, blue windows and pink bougainvillaea flowers create a genuine Andalusian feel in our home. In Monasteria, you can see Moorish architecture with Arab influences and you can feel rich Spanish history in our house that used to be an old monastery. It is beautifully integrated into nature, between the sea and mountains. Monasteria is set right on the border of the Tejada and Almijara Natural Parks. It is just six kilometres from the sea that you can see from our terrace. It is surrounded by mango and avocado orchards, olive trees and fields of wildflowers and herbs. We spend days on sunny terraces, admiring sunrises with coffee and sunsets with Rioja, calming our senses with beautiful scenery. We like kayaking, diving, trekking and climbing local crags. Adventures start in the mountains just behind us and in the sea just in front of us. If you would like to stay in a real Spanish home and soak in the Andalusian culture, please come. We would love to share our dream with you.

Here Slowhop will describe your place

Host:
Agnes Amiljanczyk
We are a small family: dad, mom, son and dog. Olgierd establishes gardens, I design and restore Victorian mosaics on a daily basis. We live and work in London. As soon as possible, we run away from the big city. We love nature, mountains, climbing, kayaking and Andalusia. Frigiliana is our place of calmness, gathering thoughts, gaining strength and improving condition, our "SLOW down and HOP up" ...

There is something you should know right from the start. Our part of Frigiliana is the oldest and the most beautiful. You can not get to the house by car and part of the experience of the stay is to walk up the picturesque, steep streets. If you have mobility problems, an extremely poor condition or you simply do not like this type of entertainment, our home may be a challenge. If you are looking for complete isolation, a cottage lost in the hills, you will not find it at our address. Our house - Monasteria, is a typical white house in a white village. With a church, grandmothers in black dresses, Spanish language under the window, donkeys and bouncing children with a ball under their arm. The house is actually two properties with a shared garden, two terraces and a grape patio. The main part of the property is constructed on the remains of the chapel of the order that once stood here a long time ago. In this part of the house, there is a kitchen with a dining room and a place where family time is usually spent and a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom. We are creating now additional room for children which You can enjoy very soon. The stairs from this part lead to a small garden, one of the terraces (with a hammock) and another house, which we call Casa Limoñ. There, just behind the charming arches, is a second bedroom with two separate beds and a separate bathroom. From Casa Limoñ, stairs lead to the upper terrace, where there is a marocan table with chairs. We usually spend time on one of the terraces, enjoying afternoon coffee, evening wine and listening to the sounds of the town, and we enjoy the view of the sea and mountains. Active couples of all ages, who like trekking in the mountains, families with children and seekers of beauty from around the world feel great here with us. On-site you will find everything you need: - BBQ facilities - a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee machine - mosquito nets in the windows (we can provide an extra for a cot) - a full information package on what to eat and visit in the area - Nordic walking poles, beach equipment.

12 things you need to know about Frigiliana: 1. Recognized as the most beautiful village of Andalusia with a rich history of cooperation between three cultures: Christian, Muslim and Jewish. 2. You can come here without a car. It's better to walk on narrow streets and get to the city by public bus. We recommend a flight to Malaga, then bus to Nerja and minibus to Frigiliana. The need to have 4 wheels ends here. 3. For a start, it's best to just stay in Frigiliana and roam the flowery white streets for days. We promise an amazing artistic experience (remaining after Maurach decorations on buildings, automatic theatres, wonderful terraces of restaurants, galleries and concerts) 4. You can take a bus to Nerja to the beach, eat paella in one of the best restaurants, lie on the beach and visit the unusual caves in Nerja (length of corridors is 4823 metres, and the fall of the area through which they lead 72 meters). 5. We are just over an hour's drive to the ski lifts of the Sierra Nevada. 6. Must visit Grenada, where the biggest monument of Spain - the oriental Alhambra palace - is located, we have bus to take You there. 7. It is worth planning trekking through the mountains, which are located just behind the fence of our house. We have accurate maps with routes for our guests. 8. For more active lovers of the mountains, we recommend Andalusian natural wonders: Caminito del Rey - Walk of Kings in El Chorro, El Torcal - Spanish Table Mountains, Trekking in the Río Verde canyon or Río Higuerón canyon, "Los Vados" - Via Ferrata Motril and walks in Las Alpujarras. 9. Frigiliana means easy access to the mountains but also to the water. More than a dozen CostaTropical beaches situated between Nerja and Almuñécar offer rocky, well-hidden secluded refuges of marine nature as well as the equator of larger and more active places with organized water sports tourism. We recommend renting kayaks from the beach in Maro and snorkelling from Burriana beach. 10. If you arrive in autumn and winter, you will be in the harvest season. That's when the local groceries taste the best citrus, avocado, mango, raisins and figs and various types of nuts and dates. Everything comes from local orchards. 11. The temperature rarely drops below 10 degrees, even in January. You can swim in the sea from early spring to late autumn and enjoy the sun for 320 days a year. 12. In fact, at any time of the year, there is a fiesta. A colourful, artistic life takes place in Frigiliana streets, where it is worth taking part.

What’s there for children?

Go to photo editor Photo edit

We welcome families with children. We have a son ourselves, so we have prepared the house in a way that it would be safe. It is worth considering that we have two terraces on different levels. Also quite steep stairs, so you have to watch your babies. And never let children alone into garden/ tarasse area. On the spot, we have the appropriate equipment for children: a cot for babies, a high chair, mosquito nets, a baby mountain carrier , books, games , LEGO, puzzles and toys for the beach. Frigiliana can offer playgrounds and realy nice outdoor swimming pool (summer months).

Monasteria to niezwykłe miejsce. Polecam pobyt! Weźcie wygodne buty, a jadąc zimą ciepłe ubrania, bo wieczory są chłodne.

Spędziliśmy w Monasterii tydzień w styczniu z mężem i synkami (3.5 i 0.5 lat).

Jedzcie do przepięknej Andaluzji!
