If Orzeszkowa had written a book, "Nad Bugiem" instead of "Nad Niemnem", the descriptions of nature would have been even longer, especially the description of the Podlaski Gorge of the Bug river, which cannot be denied evokes "ohs" and "ahhs".
Right here, in eastern Poland, where the Bug becomes ours only from an international river, in the village of Binduga, there is an almost hundred-year-old school building, whose walls remember learning to count, reciting poems and first school romances. Now you can sleep there and eat healthy and delicious food because everything here revolves around the table. Grandma, grandson and the host cook, so we guarantee that you will not leave here skinny or, worse, hungry.
A magical gate in the garden leads to the Bug old river bed, to the Kózki Nature Reserve. You can spend hours observing butterflies, which are particularly fond of the Bug, grazing sheep and Bogus the alpaca guarding them, or simply gazing at the sky, forgetting about God's world.
Previously, there was a General School in Nadbużański Dom. We renovated its original interiors, trying to preserve its style and character.
We have four guest rooms at our guests' disposal. You can sleep in a small double room that used to be a school class for the youngest children. The second small room housed the school's secretary's office, and during the war, the Wehrmacht's post. Older kids used to study in a three-person medium-sized room, so it is a bit bigger. A large room can sleep even a few people (4), and in the past there was a kindergarten and a community center - the surface is such that you could even ride a bicycle here.
The house has two bathrooms and toilets, a library and a pantry. There is an additional external toilet (outhouse) next to the house, you can make a barbecue, and our greengrocer grows vegetables and herbs. In our "outdoor restaurant" in the garden, we often eat and we encourage you to do so, because nothing tastes as good as eating outdoors. There is also plenty of space to spend the night in a tent.
Don't worry, time has stood still here - we have wifi.
We prepare for you veg breakfasts and veg dinners. The host Wojtek cooks, sometimes Grandma Teresa (Wojtek's mother), sometimes granddaughter Donald (Wojtek's son), and if you visit us during one of the culinary festivals, you will try dishes from chefs from all over the world. We cook healthy, seasonally and vegetarian on a daily basis. We use fresh products and always support local producers of organic food. We take eggs from our neighbor, cheese from the village administrator and Karolina - our cheese queen. Vegetables and fruit from proven local producers or from your own flower beds. The same goes for breads and pressed oils. We make seasonal preserves, preserves and tinctures ourselves.
If you want, we will prepare you vegan dishes, gluten-free, lactose-free, or whatever you wish in advance - it is important for us that your bellies during your stay with us are happy. After all, through the stomach to the heart!
We have a lot going on: we organize culinary and herbal festivals and workshops as well as discussion panels for tasting liqueurs or regional wines.
At your request, we can drop everything and show you the most interesting places in the area or create a tailor-made trip for you. We can organize a canoe or raft ride on the wild Bug.
The slow option includes swimming in the river, sunbathing on the beach and counting the clouds floating in the sky. In case of bad weather, we invite you to interesting conversations over coffee, and books from our library are recommended to read.
What’s there for children?
Most of the kids go crazy on the playground behind the fence. However, if they like and want to walk, the wild and beautiful nature of the reserve opens up to them, meadows full of sheep and forests with all their benefits.
It is worth taking small swimmers to the beach at the reservoir in Siemiatycze or in Serpelice.
If you want to ride a horse, in nearby Janów Podlaski (25 km) there is a world famous Arabian horse breeding farm.
We can also arrange a visit to the neighbors' farm, where the children will see how the cows are milked and the pigs and chickens are fed.
What’s there for employees?
The school walls no longer scare teachers with ghosts, but they encourage you to make yourself comfortable and set up your mobile office. Spacious rooms, a large eight-seater table in the dining room and silence (the dining room is closed) are just a few advantages of your new office. In the rooms you will also find a table or table where up to 4 people can work.
