After years of emigration, we returned to Poland and, funny enough, we chose its very extreme end. Pobiedna anywhere you turn would always be far away. From almost every perspective, this village lies at the end of the world. The only surroundings are a forest, mountains and the view of the Izerski Stóg and the Czech Republic. It is not difficult to reach us, because we live in the centre of the village and the area is amazing. Nature, old houses, crowing roosters, and in winter the snow gets up to your waist. It is worth investing in thermal underwear and having a warming homemade tincture or a drop of fruit vinegar.
We recommend getting lost in this region because it is an amazing land full of passionate people. Most of them chose Izeria for a reason. They value its wildness and the freedom it offers, but they also have a healthy distance from each other and are a bit nuts. We identify with them.
In the Polish chapter of our lives, we have saved a historic forge with an almost 300-year-old log room, we grow our own eco vegetables, experiment in the kitchen, share the house with guests, show our children what's important in life, we give animals a home and we live in a slower, Jizeran time zone.
Through the ocean-coloured door, you'll enter a cool stone floor and feel the spirit of older times. The ground floor belongs to you - here there is only one 4-person apartment, and around the corner is a cafe we created. We occupy the first floor of the house, but we do not close our doors with seven bolts. You can always climb up for a chat, an evening with raspberry tart or borrow a board game. We invite you to the Jizera Mountains, where the magic happens.
In the almost 300-year-old log room, the oldest part of our Jizera house, which we have been lovingly restoring to its former glory for a year, or in the romantic nest that we have just made for two people. It was intense and although a large part of the settlement is already beautiful and ready, there is still a lot ahead of us. We have prepared for you one apartment (40m2) for 4 people, where natural materials, blues, wood, stone, brick and a homely atmosphere reign supreme. We have one double bed, watched over by angels, and two single beds. We have divided the summer kitchen adjacent to the room into two parts. In the first there is a stove equipped with a fridge, electric kettle and toaster, tea, coffee and sugar are also available. There is also a rescued bread cabinet, which after removing layers of oil paint, breathes deeply and hides beautiful dishes on its shelves. In the second part of the room we have arranged a bathroom with a shower, where you will find towels, soap, shampoo and a hair dryer. Warning - the hot water in the shower can be very hot!
For ecological reasons, we do not change towels automatically and regularly, so please report such a need.
This summer (2024) we are expanding our offer with a second apartment (35m2) - a very romantic nest, where roses, warm wood, old porcelain and beautiful stained glass windows reign - you will go through it to the veranda and from there to the garden terrace. The nest has one double bed, a corner with Art Deco armchairs, where you can hide with a book, a bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette with a sideboard full of old porcelain. You will also find a fridge, toaster, electric kettle, coffee, tea and sugar. There is a separate entrance to the nest.
The apartments are located on the ground floor, the first floor of the house is occupied by us, but our doors are open to you. Guests are happy to eat meals at our table, or drop in for a chat over coffee, borrow books and board games from us, and the kids play with our offspring.
The house has an undeniable atmosphere, soul and a piece of history hidden in the walls. During the crazy renovation, we tore up floors, discovered old boards, painted them ocean blue, saved old furniture and rummaged through antique markets. We use natural raw materials of local origin. Many wooden, stone and brick elements often come from recycling and are given a second life by us, serving as furniture or finishing touches. We have a lot of forged elements, because our house used to be a forge. Remember that the building is very old, so here and there the floor creaks and you can hear the residents' footsteps.
We encourage you to bring slippers/changeable footwear - they will be especially useful when mud or snow reigns outside.
The Settlement includes an orchard with old trees and a garden where we grow organic vegetables.
We welcome pets, we have quite a few ourselves! However, please consult us in advance. Our purebred mongrels - Sonia and Skrobek and kitties Gizela and Chrupka are expecting four-legged guests.
Tasty, simple, home-made cuisine cooked by us, for us and for you. We make delicious breakfasts with the option of taking sandwiches to go. Both breakfasts and dinners can be meat, vegetarian or vegan (we add 25% to the regular price for vegan/gluten-free/keto meals etc.). Dinners include soup, main course, dessert, coffee, tea and long digestion. We make our own pickles, liqueurs, jams, syrups, purees and sauces. Our cellar is full of goodness.
For dinner there can be pizza, coconut soup with lentils, cauliflower curry, minced meat and whatever else comes to mind.
In winter, we will treat you to raspberry sauce, warming tincture, chokeberry juice and cough syrup, and wonderful desserts all year round.
Our property includes an orchard with old trees and a garden where we grow organic vegetables. We live in a raspberry and tomato paradise, so there will definitely be plenty of it. Sometimes we have such a harvest that the jars are bursting at the seams, and even the tastiest currants come out sideways. Then we distribute the harvest into good hands and we are happy that we can feed the hungry.
Attention! We do not serve dinner on Sundays.
We recommend getting lost in Izerbaijan, because it is an extraordinary land created by passionate people. Most of them chose Izera for a reason. They appreciate its wildness and the freedom it offers, but they also have a healthy distance from themselves and are very crazy. We identify with them.
We are constantly getting to know the area and we have the impression that the region's attractions are a bottomless pit. Festivals, concerts, markets with local products, castles, ski slopes, viewpoints, bicycle routes and hiking trails. Both enthusiasts of active recreation and those who prefer unhurried relaxation will have plenty to do.
We often climb the nearby "Ławeczka" and enjoy the view of the Jizera and Kaczawskie Mountains, which we highly recommend. You can also ride a bike or put on protectors and go on the nearby single-tracks, i.e. forest and mountain routes.
It is also worth a walk to the top of Kufla, because the Central Border Post of Izerbaijan stands proudly there. It is a symbol of freedom, independence, peace, kindness and openness erected by us - the residents. Its performer is Teo from the Izerbaijan band, and the initiator of the name is Grzegorz Żak, a Lusatian storyteller, bard and poet. In fact, it is not a border post because it is not located on the border, but in the center. Between the mountains and foothills, with a phenomenal view of the Jizera Foothills and a location far from everything. The pole fits perfectly with the idea of free Izerbaijan. That is, us - residents and lovers of this part of Poland.
In the vicinity of our house there are also:
- fields, meadows, forests,
- running routes - Run Track,
- bicycle routes - Single Track,
- cross-country ski trails,
- one of two Dark Sky Parks in Poland,
- several beautiful beaches and lakes,
- gondola lift in Świeradów-Zdrój,
- the palace in Pobiedna and the Mon Plaisir tower,
- castles: Czocha, Rajsko, Frydlant, Świecie, Lenno, Chojnik,
- Wolimierz Station.
You can use the free bus to Świeradów-Zdrój - to the ski slopes and to Nové Mesto - to the bicycle routes. Delivery by our car is also possible.
In summer, the area is brimming with events, concerts and warm evenings. We wholeheartedly recommend the summer festival at Stacja Wolimierz - music, workshops, games and activities for children, lectures, vegetarian food and amazing energy of good people are waiting for you.
Fans of strong sounds, pogo on stage and positive vibrations are invited to Izerbaijan Punk Eko Fest. This is a festival created for you, in which "Punk is not Dead" is the driving force of life and the road covered with studs. It is a combination of music and the promotion of wild, natural and clean Jizera Mountains. Our kids fell in love with this festival. The sight of children jogging - priceless. You have to experience it, we will definitely be there.
In winter, skiing and sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, mulled wine, snowmen and snowballs, and when it gets warm - Open Day of Half-timbered Houses, Open Gardens of the Jizera Foothills, exciting field trips and games with our friendly guides from Discover Silesia, Sunday stock exchange in Cieplice, sightseeing castles and bonfire nights.
What’s there for children?
Children eat currants straight from the bush, spend most of their time in the garden, play football, and then, thirsty, run for compote. We have two children ourselves, who take on the duties of guides for our little guests. They show us the nooks and crannies of the orchard, reveal their methods of dealing with boredom, share tricks for rainy weather, and are happy to share puzzles or board games.
Toddlers love chasing our dogs, petting cats, and watching birds. In that order and vice versa.
The kids can hide away in a tree house, fulfill their culinary dreams in a mud kitchen, or look for treasures in the sandbox.
