Between Lake Dobrogoszcz and Lake Długie, in the Kashubian region, under the very forest, where deer tracks are much more frequent than human tracks, there is a Green Valley as if painted. In this valley, at number eight, the slow fate of our family has been unfolding for years. The red-brick house was always bustling with activity, dinner had a side dish, summer evenings had the accompaniment of frogs croaking, and breakfasts had warm milk from the neighbour's (only) cow to sip.
Twenty years later, the house stands as it did, the neighbour is still the only one who keeps animals, and frogs occupy the house pond. Books are still great to read on the bridge, the well water tastes as it did when you were a child, and the walk to the lake is the highlight of the day.
Plan a stop along your route. Preferably one in the forest. Here we were never separated from nature, unexpected guests were welcome, and the definition of the word rush was unknown. The family house, the apple of my grandfather's eye, has been refreshed, slightly modernised, but without taking away its magic. The floors are wooden, the stove is tiled, the ceiling uncovered, and the furniture is not at all new.
We've got poor coverage here, the internet works if it wants to, and the TV is completely unneeded. So fasten your seatbelts, turn up the radio to retro hits and head for the edge of the forest. A dirt road will lead you to a forest stop.
PS A neighbour is finishing his house 200 metres from ours. Believe it or not, it is a quiet renovation.
Our house is located on a small hill practically at the end of the village. We have only one neighbor - a farmer, so the mooing of cows, the crowing of a rooster and the sound of a tractor are everyday life for us. However, we are 200 meters away from the neighbor, so first-degree encounters are rare.
The red brick house is surrounded by fields and a forest. We also have exclusive use of a small pond full of frogs and plants, the view of which is incredibly calming. So there is a small bridge for observing tadpoles and contemplating the squawking, there is a view of the forest and deer approaching its edge, there is peace and quiet.
We give the stop in the forest exclusively to you. To you, i.e. a group of maximum 6 people. Of course, you can come in pairs and you will feel at home here. We have filled the interiors with everything that is charming, atmospheric, old, second-hand and inherited. There is a beautiful brick fireplace, a tiled stove, wooden floors, furniture that has been given a second and third life. A completely new sauna is warming and relaxing.
On the ground floor we have a separate bedroom with a double bed and air conditioning and a living room with a sofa bed and TV, and Netflix and Prime Video.
The first floor of the house is an open space divided only by a chimney, there you will find one Kashubian, double bed, two single beds and air conditioning.
There is one brand new bathroom with a shower and washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table. Simply a house in the country, where you can live right away. For a weekend, for a week, for a month.
Dogs are very welcome with us. We have a fenced area, so they will be safe. Deer, hares and other forest animals walk behind the fence. In the summer and autumn you will often meet the neighbor's horses and happily running foals in the fields around our house.
We do not interfere with your meals – it is your own, but we have equipped the kitchen to make cooking easier. You will find everything you need to prepare breakfasts, dinners and, of course, lunches. If you feel like grilling, a barbecue is waiting in the garden, and there is also a place for a bonfire. Meals outdoors are highly recommended. As for local specialties, our neighbor will be happy to share fresh eggs – for a small fee.
A welcome basket full of Kashubian specialties awaits our guests, which will certainly make your stay more pleasant. In the basket you will find regional delicacies, such as jam, honey or cranberry ketchup. The contents of the basket may vary depending on the season and available products, but it will always be a selection of vegetarian delicacies. If you have allergies or exclude something from your diet, be sure to let us know!
8 km from our house is Kościerzyna – a large town with restaurants, milk bars, shopping centres and many grocery stores. In the opposite direction, from Przystanek w lesie, we recommend Gościniec dla Przyjaciół in Wyczechów (25 km from the house) and Schabowy Raz (31 km from the house). If you prefer delivery, you can order a delicious pizza from Prosto i Włosko or KFC, which will be delivered straight to your door. You can find a list of our favourite places on the information board in the house.
There is not much to do here – and that is where all the charm lies! You can go for a walk to Lake Długie (it is only a 10-minute pleasant route) and pick mushrooms or berries in the nearby forest. You can also simply relax on our pier, listening to the croaking of frogs. Swimming in the pond? We do not recommend it. This is not a swimming area, but a fish and frog reservoir, where we do not really know what is lurking at the bottom – mud, plants, maybe a giant carp!
In the area you will find a ski lift in winter, and in summer mini-golf and kayaking trips, popular in Kashubia. However, the magic of our village means that a deckchair, a blanket on the grass and time spent listening to nature are often enough. Take books with you, catch up on podcasts, or start writing a journal. You can start your day with a run... or lazy lying down.
For the active, we provide bicycles in the price of your stay - the surrounding country roads and forest paths are just begging for a bike ride. In 25 minutes on two wheels you will reach Lake Kaliska, where a sandy beach awaits. In the summer you can relax with your neighbors behind the screens, and in the winter try winter swimming.
After returning home - time to relax! We invite you to use the sauna. Price per session: PLN 100 for 2 people, PLN 150 for 4 people and PLN 200 for 6 people.
Billed according to the electric meter. The perfect end to the day is moments by the fireplace, board games and absolute silence. And then - sleep with the chickens or night conversations until the morning.
What’s there for children?
You won't find a playground, because that's not our style. Our climate is all about having fun and frolicking in the yard, so the kids will have plenty of space to run around. The area around the house is quite large and fenced. There is direct access to the pond and the possibility of watching our only neighbor's tractors or horses (depending on the season) from behind the fence. There is nothing else around us. So you can watch frogs swimming in the pond, but remember that it's their home and we warn you not to enter the pond. We recommend taking your favorite toys with you. On rainy days, when you have to hide at home, there are board games and puzzles at your disposal, and as a last resort, you have a TV with Netflix and Prime Video, but we know from experience that it is rarely useful.
What’s there for employees?
Make a stop in a place where nature is an integral part of everyday life. We have the best working conditions in the kitchen, because there is a large table there. On the first floor you will find a desk with a lamp, which will be perfect for video chats or for working in focus mode. However, our area is so beautiful that we encourage you to enjoy the fresh air. In the garden you can click at the table or on a comfortable sofa. After finishing the necessary matters, we recommend rocking in a hammock, a walk to the pond or warming up in the sauna.
The Internet and coverage have been with us for a short time, so if the page loads a little longer and the file downloads slower, you have to forgive us. Such is the charm of slow work.
