At a time when vast lands and forests were travelled on horseback or by carriage, and national borders could be crossed unknowingly, newcomers from afar began arriving in Masovia. It would take a long time to find out what made them leave the distant Netherlands and come here. The important thing is that they were business people, so - as you can guess - they had their own business. In our Republic they were simply seen as Dutch, so they were called almost identically: Olêders. They prided themselves on their freedom and had something that many here envied. They knew a lot about land reclamation techniques. In fact, they had no choice - in their native lowland areas, mastery of the element of water was essential if agriculture was to function at all. They settled in various parts of present-day Poland, and many of them built houses and villages along the Vistula. They were supposed to come for a while, but somehow they stayed for longer. We are not at all surprised by this.
Our house was brought to life by the Olêders and you can see at first glance that it is a bit different from most Polish houses. That's why we noticed it when we were travelling the roads of Mazovia for the second time. And then Marcin decided: I'll ask. And he did, he bought the house, renovated it, cured it of the ills of old age and restored its charm. We lived there for a long time, we spent every summer in the countryside. We held our wedding and the baptism of our children here. Now we are ready to invite you to it.
In a house with over 100 years of history, which we restored in 2010. It brings to mind rural mansions, and its white facade with blue shutters emphasizes its charming atmosphere. The habitat is surrounded by a large garden where we have planted many species of flowers. Further there is a forest, even further fields, and behind the fields flows the Vistula River.
On the ground floor there is a large living room with dining area and two bedrooms. The first room has two single beds. The second room is equipped with two single beds and a fold-out double sofa bed. Its windows overlook the garden. Next to it is the kitchen and bathroom (shower and toilet).
The attic is an open space with two zones: recreation and bedroom. In the first one there is a cast-iron goat and a coffee table, two sofas (including one fold-out) and an armchair. The bedroom is equipped with a large double bed. In the attic there is also a mezzanine with three single mattresses and a bathroom (shower with toilet).
There is a highchair and a cot for a toddler up to 3 years old.
Home is for you, so the heart of your home will serve you as best it can. Many people remember the tiled kitchens from their grandparents' houses, and country holidays are a great opportunity to come back to these memories and tastes. For those who are shy, we can assure you that cooking in such a kitchen is not difficult and can bring a lot of fun. However, if you prefer modern, there is also a plate with three burners. The choice depends entirely on your fantasy.
The nearest grocery stores can be found in Iłów (4 km), they are well stocked. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find a good pub in the area, but we would like to recommend you a visit to the farm of the Grain Association in Grzybowo. They are run by a Dutch and a Polish woman, and the breads baked by Varsovians are cut until their ears are shaking. There are also delicious cheeses made of goat and cow milk.
Time flows slowly in the countryside. On a blanket in the garden you read a book that has waited too long for its turn. You can watch the clouds in the hammock or take a carefree nap. Picnics and daily parties for the whole family are organized in the gazebo. The area of the habitat is surrounded by forest and fields, and a bit further is the Vistula River, which can be reached in a quarter of an hour. The nearby Rzepki reserve is 6 km away. There is nowhere to go for walks. In the immediate vicinity there are also EuroVelo R-2 bicycle routes and the possibility of horse riding (Stajnia u Cieślaków, 3 km). Kayaking trips down the Vistula and Bzura rivers are organized (Januszew Harbor, 7 km). To watch wild birds, you can go to slightly more distant reserves: Zakrzewskie Islands, Kępa Rakowska and Kępa Antonińska.
Lada is in an interesting area, so we also recommend a few places for a bit further trips:
- car: in the footsteps of the Masovian Olenders - we have tips for you on how and where to go
- The Vistula Museum in Wyszogród (12 km), thanks to which you can learn about the customs of people living in the area of the Central Vistula
- Open-air museum of the Vistula settlement in Wiączemin Polski (22 km). The youngest open-air museum in Poland and the only open-air museum in Mazovia devoted to the Olęder settlement on the Vistula River. During your visit, you will find out that our habitat could be part of the open-air museum exhibition
- The birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin in Żelazowa Wola (27 km). Chopin Recitals are held here every Saturday and Sunday (from May to September) at 12:00 and 15:00.
