Between Grójec and Radom, right next to Nowe Miasto on the Pilica river, there is a village called Ulaski Gostomskie. And in it, on the river bank, stands a wooden Radom knotty cottage. It's a welcome change of view (the best one is from a deckchair and grass), pace (to a much slower one) and priorities (long, filling breakfasts first and foremost, followed by sweet laziness).
You won't get wifi, the coverage is spotty, so you can unwittingly relax offline. You can spend your time however you like - like lazy noodles, just changing sides on a blanket and pages of a book, or maybe writing your own, you can be active, with family, but also alone - there is a place for everything here.
Remnants of Neolithic settlements and bones of a woolly mammoth have been found in the area, and fortunately, you can now find some of the tastiest Polish apples - more flushed, distinctive in flavour and more sour than the rest.
Come and see for yourself what relaxation in a slow rhythm tastes like.
In a wooden, gnarled Radom cottage, where you can come all year round. In the summer, the heat is cooled by the nearby river, which you can run straight from the garden. In winter, you will be warmed by heaters, and the fire from the fireplace will add atmosphere. From the cottage there is a covered terrace, where you can eat, drink and read books slowly, and then to the garden, which has a very close relationship with the river and direct descent to it.
On the ground floor there is an open space with a fireplace, sofas and armchairs, a kitchen and a table with chairs and a very large bedroom, which is accessed through an old hand-painted double door with two double beds behind it. A beautiful, ceramic goat adds to the atmosphere.
In the attic, which can be reached by wooden stairs, there are two bedrooms, each with one double bed and one single bed. All beds have comfortable, new mattresses, fresh-smelling bedding and prepared towels.
We have our own mosquitoes, because they love to spend time by the river, so we decided to spray the plot with preparations that are safe for people and animals. Sometimes a rooster will crow, sometimes a dog will bark - nothing else should disturb you from your morning sleep or afternoon nap.
There is a second house on a 1900-meter plot, where we or our friends sometimes visit. So you may have neighbors. However, there is so much space that everyone will feel comfortable here.
If you would like to come to us with a dog - please let us know in advance.
You can go crazy with pots as much as you like, because the kitchen is fully equipped. There is also a large grill at your disposal, which will accommodate delicacies to feed a large team of gourmands. There is also a coffee machine for those who love to celebrate long mornings with the aromatic taste and aroma of this addictive drink. And in the garden, treat yourself to delicious Antonovki (apple pie is second to none!).
However, if you want to take a break from cooking and cooking, we will tell you where. 18 km from us is "Dworek na Pilica", where you can eat such delicacies as fish soup, a cauldron of lamb or burbot. All dishes are prepared on site, and products such as meat, eggs and vegetables come from local producers, while fish from our own ponds and a nearby trout farm.
There is also "Łejkówka" at the same distance from the cottage, we checked it and you can eat well there - note the portions are not small! A 10-minute walk you will find Bar Słoneczko with fast food and the simplest grilled dishes.
Ulaski Gostomskie is an inconspicuous village, but its location on the Pilica River allows you to rest, row on canoes (see the longest wooden bridge in Poland), fish, go for a walk or bike trip, take both water baths, and sunlight, or listen to the frog's cackle.
We are away from the crowds of tourist attractions, so put us on a reset and rest. Our silence and autumn morning fog are beautiful. With a bit of luck, deer chasing us in the meadow can break us out of our thoughts. Greenery and riverside traffic will remain in your memory for a long time - you can see pheasants, herons and even Bald Eagle.
If you go (or sail) towards Nowe Miasto nad Pilica, the route will lead you through pictures-like landscapes, alleys of old trees, flowering fallow lands, vast meadows and oxbow lakes, and will end in a beautiful place of "Dworek nad Pilica", where you can relax on terraces falling almost into the river current or relax in the SPA. Along the way, you cannot miss the longest wooden bridge in Poland located in Gostomia.
If your legs carry you towards Warka, you will notice a Polish basin of peppers and eggplants. Further along the route there are tiny Wyśmierzyce, where it is necessary to photograph the market square surrounded by wooden houses.
There are also beautiful forests in the immediate vicinity, nearby is the Tomczyce Reserve (with pine forest) and the Sokołów Reserve with herds of wild geese, swans and colorful ducks.
What’s there for children?
There is a large jogging area, a large house where you can play hide and seek for long hours, there is also a small painting table, hammock and a swing by the river. For athletes, we leave a badminton set.
A gentle, sandy descent to the river, which even reaches the knees of several-year-olds, which allows the youngest to bathe.
On cloudy days, we have prepared a children's corner with a low table, chair, coloring books and paints. On weekends, animations for children are organized in the vicinity.
But above all, we approve of boredom. Because boredom has many advantages - it teaches you how to endure your own company, start an adventure with independence, and above all, it develops creativity and imagination!
