The last bell for recess rang centuries ago and the break continues today. There are those who still remember school desks and blackboards. They are no longer here, but there are beds, bedside tables and comfortable sofas. The school was built here at the beginning of the 20th century, so, about 100 years ago. We decided to save a bit of the past, take care of leaving the original interior, but equip it with the comfort necessary for modern times.
We will be proud of the wonderful kitchen that is rumoured to be whispered about in living rooms. We will talk about the lake, good books, peace and the Wel River, the best for canoeing trips. Head to the village of Trzcin, in the heart of the Welski Landscape Park. It is a unique souvenir of the glacier, which has left a lot of ponds everywhere and beautiful hilly terrain. The rapid Wel River and the quiet and clean Kiełpińskie Lake surrounded by a forest meanders nearby. Come by, we have many more stories to share.
In the building of a Prussian elementary school built over a hundred years ago. After complete modernization, it turned into a beautiful and intimate house providing wonderful conditions for relaxation and a complete reset of the system. We decorated the interior simply and uniquely. The rooms are tastefully decorated, but not luxurious, the bedding smells of the wind, and the bathrooms are sparkling clean. In this house, Mrs. Iwonka takes care of every detail so that you can feel special. Even pets can count on caresses.
We offer 5 cozy and quiet rooms with bathrooms for 16 people (12 beds and 4 extra beds). In the house you will also find a fireplace room with a library and TV, a workshop room, a kitchen with access to the veranda, a comfortable common space with sofas and a small kitchen on the first floor. The surroundings include a large, magical garden with a pond, a terrace with a pergola providing shade and a place for a bonfire (additionally paid PLN 70).

During breakfast you should prepare for:
- homemade preserves and cold meats
- fruit from your own orchard,
- culinary novelties and traditional gems.
Murmurs of delight may appear after apples with cardamom, baked sweet potatoes with chickpeas, feta cheese and corn salad, roasted vegetables, pasta with baked pumpkin and gorgonzola, or basically anything.
We serve breakfast and dinner for an additional fee upon your request.
The large kitchen with the dining room downstairs is the work space and the domain of the hostess only, we do not provide it for self-catering.
The garden in Stara Szkoła covers half an acre and is exclusively at your disposal. This is where the ingredients of our dishes come from, grown by Mrs. Iwonka. Maintaining it, even though it takes a lot of time, is a real passion - we put our hearts into it. You can spend time there, playing with your children, observing life around the pond or simply lounging on a deckchair.
In case of bad weather, you have a common living room with sofas, a bookcase and a fireplace at your disposal. You couldn't imagine a better place to immerse yourself in reading.
In summer, evenings spent on the terrace will be more pleasant with a glass of wine, home-made liqueur and, of course, a barbecue. You can also sit around the fire, listen to the forests and remember songs from the scout songbook. Everything, however, respects other guests.
In winter, rest may be sleepy or hyperactive. Just 15 km from our Old School, you can try your hand at the ski slope at the Kurza Góra Ski Resort. Conditions do not fly, snow cannons are flying, and professionals and novices alike bask in white luxury.
Stara Szkoła is located in the heart of the Welski Landscape Park, near Lake Kiełpińskie and the rushing Wel River. The area offers plenty of opportunities to spend time actively, including kayaking, hiking and cycling, fishing, horse riding and winter sleigh rides. Near:
- Lake Kiełpińskie located about 3 km from us. It is one of the few lakes completely surrounded by forests covering the steeply sloping shores of the reservoir. A paradise for fishing enthusiasts, you can catch fish such as perch, silver bream, bream, roach, tench and pike. There is a tourist trail around the lake.
- Wel River - kayaking on the Wel River has been a very popular and interesting form of active recreation for years. By kayaking you can discover the world from a completely new perspective. The surrounding wild nature, peace and quiet will allow you to fully relax and detach from everyday affairs. A light effort while rowing and the kilometers covered will be a source of unique experiences and great satisfaction! Wel consists of sections with varying degrees of difficulty, from easy to very difficult, even mountain ones, e.g. Piekiełko Reserve.

- The Oak of the Republic - a 500-year-old natural monument,
There are 3 bikes available for rent on site. We recommend a trip to nearby villages, to the lake or in search of mushrooms.
What’s there for children?
Boredom rests the brain, stimulates the imagination and even develops relationships. Let the child and yourself get a little bored and have a good rest. At the Old School, kids will find time to go crazy, play games, look for owls in hollows, soak their feet in a pond and run after a ball. A mini playground will satisfy the natural rush to play, and a large, rural one will provide greater needs for frolics. You will find him just around the corner by the local lounge. In the living room, by the fireplace, children will be able to watch fairy tales, and they will be lulled to sleep by a fairy tale from the bookcase. A trip to the lake or a canoeing trip will be a lot of fun, and stories about the Old School will be a decent history lesson.
