There is a place in the world where the sky is filled with more stars, the night is blacker than anywhere else, and the air has a distinct smell, but it’s always fresh any time of the year. Where you can hear the grunting of deer, hinds are proudly strolling in the stream, and Aga the bear became the heroine of the book of a well-known forester. This wild Bieszczady nature is located here in the Baligród forest where we have our Szumilove houses.
We are right on the Hoczewka River because we "love" the sound (“szum” in Polish) of the flowing river. Every day you will be able to admire the rushing stream from the window and sit on the terrace with a coffee in your hand listening to it. However, when the sun burns hot, it will become your refuge, because there’s nothing better than to lay out a sunbed by the Samiuśka river and let the crisp cold mountain spring water wrap around you.
We are located close to the Bieszczady sea – Zalew Solińskie (Solina Lagoon) and the trails leading to the Połonina. In the winter, you can ski on the slope, which can be seen from the window. You can also go with us and our guide on a fantastic ski tour trail, where you’ll more likely meet a pack of wolves than a man.
Come here to reset and recharge your batteries. We have prepared for you three 6-person houses with fireplaces and saunas, a place for feasts by the fire and a Russian sauna for ultimate relaxation. In each house, there is also a telescope for observing the starry sky, which is protected in Bieszczady. At 22:00, the lights are turned off, even the street lights to protect nature against the effects of artificial light. So you can admire the wonder of nature – constellations, the Milky Way and the wonderful moon.
Take your furry friends, comfortable shoes and your favourite book, follow the footsteps of the "Wataha" series or come without a plan. We are happy to suggest what you can do between Połonin and Solina. Remember, you go to Bieszczady once and then you’ll only keep coming back. Welcome.
The sea has already been there, Masuria too, you know the Tatras like the back of your hand. Maybe this year Bieszczady?
We offer you four 6-person cottages with a view of the river and the Dzidowa mountain (there is a ski slope where in winter you can ski without crowds). We have arranged them comfortably so that you can relax better. We have underfloor heating, so you can ski on your socks. If you need some atmosphere, we have fireplaces for gatherings with a cup of mulled wine. Morning coffee from the coffee machine tastes best on the terrace, on a lounger, accompanied by the noise of a mountain river.
The cottages have two bedrooms, each with a double bed and a single bed. Additionally, in the living room there is a comfortable sofa with a sleeping function, so three couples will also be able to feel comfortable here.
If you come with children, we have a high chair, a travel cot and an anti-slip mat for the shower, a bathtub and a potty.
After the hardships of hiking along the Bieszczady trails, you will regenerate during a session in the infrared sauna, which is exclusive to each cottage. Such a sauna is suitable even for children.
For cool evenings by the fireplace, you can choose a nice board game, there are several proven hits available in the rental :)
You can eat whatever you want, but we recommend rigs and blackberries picked behind the cottage from the river. We can also bring you country eggs from Mrs. Dorothy's friends, or if you want, we will treat you with Bieszczady buns - proziak with butter and bear garlic. We offer you a fully equipped kitchenette, with an induction hob, fridge and a coffee machine for the morning coffee.
However, if you fancy regional delicacies, we will recommend you a few places on the culinary map that are worth visiting. In the season, the Bieszczadzki Bistro offers a breakfast offer, so we wholeheartedly recommend it.
There is no chance of boredom here. You can spend your time actively, we will suggest where to go, where to go, what is worth seeing. We know all the tourist attractions.
To warm up, we recommend reading the book "Before You Leave for Bieszczady" - Nóżka, Scelina, Kozłowski. It is a book worth reading to get to know our area better.
You can also laze around, read a book on a deckchair, soak your feet in the river. In the evenings, play board games, make a bonfire or splash around in the tub.
In winter, the basic activity is snow removal and skiing. We shovel the road, because Bieszczady crossfit is what it is, and a fresh supply of snow always arouses excitement. The slope on Dzidowa is within reach, so we have to take advantage of these luxuries. We love fresh powder, so we rush for breakfast and wax our skis to check the "conditions". Then a sauna and mulled wine by the fireplace.
You can also do something non-skiing off the slope. If you can't stand crowds on the trail, get ready for a unique ski touring escapade in our wild mountains, which were simply made for this sport. We guarantee fantastic experiences on the trail, breathtaking views, undisturbed silence, sparkling white powder as even and soft as the peaks of mountain pastures, a descent in fresh snow on a route that no one has ever ridden before, and plenty of attractions after such a wonderfully active day. There will be a sauna, a hot tub, rubbing with snow, and then a feast by the bonfire, and then... mulled wine, revelries and frolics. This is what your framework plan may look like.
In the summer we walk, walk, and then... walk :) There are many interesting routes in the vicinity of Baligród. For example, you can go to Lake Bobrowe, Lakes Duszatyńskie, the educational trail Dolina Rabskiego Potok, Góra Chryszczata, the observation tower on Korbania. From the nearby town of Jabłonki you can set off to visit LASUMIŁA, the thickest fir tree in Poland, or drive further to "attack" the mountain pastures. We will be happy to advise you where, what and how :)
What’s there for children?
We even have a special house for kids - Szumilovy Domek z Misiem. This is where there is a special room for kids, a bedroom-living room. In addition, in the backyard we have swings, hopscotch, outdoor tic-tac-toe and a trip to the river to build a dam. Our sauna is also suitable for little ones. We will tell you which hiking routes are suitable for younger and older children, where to find traces of bear paws and what mushrooms to pick and which better not to touch. Children in Biesy are free, they discover wild nature and conquer the peaks.
We also have a BABY SET: a travel cot, a feeding chair, a potty, a bathtub, a non-slip mat, a step for the washbasin.
