Pawliki, located at an altitude of 975 m above sea level above the Białka valley, fulfilled all the points on our dream list more than thirty years ago, when we renovated our first house here. The Tatras are at our fingertips, allowing us to relax and pursue our mountain passions, yet with zero tourists per square metre. With time, we have discovered even more of the surrounding benefits: a homely, cosy atmosphere of a Spisz village, neighbours producing oscypek (sheep cheese), the proximity of the Slovak Tatra Mountains (8 km to the border in Jurgów) and high-calorific bryndza haluszka, a pleasant distance from ski resorts and tourist revelations. Fortunately, throughout all the years, the local idyllic landscape has remained almost unchanged.
This house is our new chapter, which I don't think we are ready for yet. Originally we were going to live in it, but attachment to the old cottage we have lived in for years, a few hundred metres away, won out. A brand new villa for 8 people, which smells of wood, we leave in your care. Let it serve as a relaxing place for you.
Building a new house was a natural result of combining our passions: mountains, Podhale architecture and gardens. We built it with attention to detail, filled it with paintings by Basia and souvenirs from my Himalayan expeditions. A long-time friend of ours, a specialist in the construction of wooden houses and a highlander by blood, living in the neighbourhood, is responsible for all key construction works.
In parallel with the construction, we have been creating the garden ourselves from scratch. It consists of two parts: a Japanese one, accessed through the original Torii gate, and a fusion part, where you can find probably the highest pond in Poland with blooming water lilies. No one expects such a view in the Tatra Mountains alone. Botanical enthusiasts will also be satisfied with around two hundred varieties of plants that are rare in Poland.
Mountain hiking, swimming in a stream or in the thermal baths, cycling escapades, walks in search of views - everything is at hand here. We invite you to enjoy the tranquillity of Ikigai, pink spectacles at sunset, morning coffee on the terrace and long conversations by the fireplace.

Host:
Rysiek i Basia
We speak these languages: Polish, English, Russian, French
We are on-site, we give our guests space and intimacy, but we're always ready to help
Rysiek - a participant of many expeditions into the highest mountains, a cave explorer, conqueror of the deepest cave in the world in 1980. Basia - a painter, drawing inspiration from mountain spaces and distant travels; a fan of diving. We have been connected with mountains all our lives, currently, we actively escape from old age - figuratively and literally. We combine travelling with marathon races and diving. In winter we like to ski. In between trips, we devote ourselves to gardening. For over 30 years, we have spent most of our free time in Pawliki, and for the last few years, we have been living here permanently. After building a new house, we cannot part with the old cottage, which is only a few hundred metres away... So, for the time being, we have decided to make the benefits of the new house available to our guests.
