At a glance
The climate here is such that one looks around for a young Daniel Olbrychski in riding boots, hitting on the maidens of Wilko. The probability is high because Polish actors Roman Wilhelmi, Adam Hanuszkiewicz and Barbara Krafftówna, as well as other guests, publicly known and unknown, but all distinguished have spent time in Villa Tadeusz. The key figure is great-grandfather Tadeusz, the perpetrator of all the confusion, and grandfather Tadeusz, who drove to Krakow in a wooden car, who allowed himself to be fired from the catapult and was able to explain like nobody else why in Villa Tadeusz the bust of Piłsudski withstood Hitler, Stalin and would stand forever because that's just how it's supposed to be.
In the 1950s, Grandfather Tadeusz built a real brick swimming pool in this forest corner and he magically stopped time so that among the greenery you could listen to music from a black record, take your time to eat apple pie and look at Babia Góra.

Willa Tadeusz is probably the only Polish guesthouse that has been in the hands of one family for so many years. For us, it is a family symbol, just like great-grandfather Tadeusz, who originally built a forester's lodge here. And grandfather Tadeusz, whose remarkable spirit is in every place. It was thanks to his ingenuity and courage that the villa survived, withstanding Hitler, Stalin, and the People's Republic of Poland, often only to a happy coincidence, owing to the preservation of the status of a pre-war guesthouse. The villa remembers all the guests. Minister Józef Beck, General Haller, Marshal Koniew and his staff after the liberation of Krakow. He remembers rooms only for Germans on the first floor and refugees from the Warsaw Uprising on the second. He remembers visits from the Gestapo, GRU (military intelligence of the USSR) and the UB. He is still here, just as we are here to tell our guests about all this.
