Behind seven meadows, behind seven bushes, an hour's drive from Łódź, three-quarters of an hour from Warsaw, nestled peacefully in the grass stands a house over a hundred years old, and within it a hundred-year-old working bread oven. Inside, it's not so peaceful; magic happens there, and you can sample a cocktail of cultures – amazing colors imported from Iran, Balkan ornaments, a Dutch love of nature, a Latvian love of simple cuisine, and highlander paintings on glass.
Here, bread was baked and love was shared; now, it's shared with a love of travel and fudge with the heavenly taste of salted caramel. In the garden, a spreading linden tree seems to say, "Sit under my leaf and rest! The sun won't reach you here, I promise you," inviting you for an afternoon of reading or a nap in the shade.
At home, you can play detective and try to find the icon painted on a board with red wine paint, giving its colors a velvety feel. You can lie in the grass, lose yourself in reading, or go for a walk. You can also hit the emergency brake and take a break from the daily grind – gazing at the clouds helps with this.
We have a pizza oven in the barn, which, in addition to pizza, can be used to bake bread, focaccia, and whatever else your heart desires, seasoned with fresh herbs from our garden.
The silence all around is as quiet as a poppy seed, morning dew on the grass cooling your bare feet, and sunsets on the horizon that will make you want to take your hat off. It's worth coming, wrapping yourself in the ubiquitous greenery and soaking in the local peace.
Built in 1921, the country house has two bedrooms for your use and a living room with a fireplace and a kitchen and dining area. There are two beds in the blue bedroom: one double and one single. The pine bedroom has one double bed and three single beds. In total, up to 8 people can sleep comfortably with us. The house is open all year round, and each season offers us its unique charms. The area around the house is fenced, so your dogs can run freely (as long as they do not bathe in a garden pond).
The real treasure and the heart of the house is the original, perfectly preserved and working bread oven with a hundred-year-old bread shovel. Our house is decorated with souvenirs brought by us from all over the world - the Balkans, the Netherlands, Latvia or Iran, as well as handicrafts of Polish folk artists and more. Here you will find icons, hand-decorated plates and Persian gompoles.
From the porch, where a garden swing invites you to rest, there is a view of greenery and only greenery, and on hot days, the shade is generously provided by: aged chestnut tree and insanely fragrant, spreading linden.
We would like to emphasize that the house is situated among fields where harvesters work during the harvest, and in the summer, various country scents can be heard. Not necessarily enjoyable. During a storm, there may be no electricity, and it takes a long time to restore it at our end of the world - without panic - this is the best time to light candles, make a fireplace, make tea and enjoy the most true holy peace. If the window is pouring over the stairs for a long time, it shows its moods and it can grow - then we place a bowl and pretend that it is quite normal. We have wifi so you can work. But let's be honest - who would want to be here?
Close the front door, because mice have moved into the house more than once and it may happen that during your stay a guest showing off will appear. Willing or not, show him your heart and make him move out. Interesting things happen in the bathroom when we drain the water - the water pressure in the tap drops for a while, but after a while everything returns to normal. We advise you not to give you a few seconds of a cold shower while you are bathing.
Next to the house is our beloved and stone barn, where grilled dishes reign supreme. We treat it as a summer dining room and sit until late at night, eating delicacies.
We give you the entire kitchen at your disposal, so you cook on your own.
At any time, you can call the irreplaceable Mr. Krzyś - from whom you can order country eggs, cold meats, cheese from Wartkowice and delicious salted caramel-flavored fudge from the dairy cooperative in Bidziny (if heaven exists, it tastes exactly like that!). For hot weather, we recommend soda from replaceable siphons produced in nearby Dmosin. The telephone number for Mr. Krzyś is on the information package, which is located in each room next to our telephones and emergency telephones.
In Koluszki there is the Olszyńscy bakery (products based on old recipes from local producers and delicious sourdough bread) and the Czerwony Struny Świat restaurant and pub. You can eat burgers there, some fusion cuisine, salads, and if you're lucky, you'll go to a jazz concert. If you want good coffee, go to the Caffe Café at the Market Square.
In Brzeziny you will find "Zapiekane" - a kitchen after kitchen revolutions and you can eat their fantastic specialty, i.e. white sausage casserole and amazing pastas (note: the place is rather symbolic in size and crowded, it's good to make a reservation!)
You can eat fresh fish at the above-pili Fryszerka, but sometimes you have to wait for it, so don't come at the last minute.
You can, but you don't have to. There's so much going on around us that you might not have time for a lazy lie-in.
First of all: the immediate surroundings. When you tire of the jacuzzi, grilling, yoga on the lawn, baking pizza, and leisurely sipping lemonade under the old chestnut tree, you can poke your nose over the fence of the Zagroda. A walk through the fields in the company of deer and hares, or a nearby bike ride, is a good way to gently revive yourself from your blissful laziness. Right at the entrance to Koluszki, you'll find a bike path leading to the beautiful forest in Redzeń. The path itself follows the route of an old railway (of course, we're close to a legendary railway junction, after all!).
Secondly: the water. On hot days, we recommend a trip to the still-fresh nearby water complex in Lisowice, located on the Mroda River. It features a natural swimming area with a beach, kayaks and pedal boats, a swimming pool, a wake park, a ropes course, and a restaurant. Picturesque riverside landscapes are all around. Thirdly: the attractions are coming to you. Let us know in advance, and we'll organize:
- slow cooking or pizza baking lessons in our oven – choose from family, men's, and women's menus,
- wine tasting combined with a tour of a nearby vineyard, whose "musiaki" (wine) They are famous worldwide and earn the recognition not only of competition juries but also—and perhaps above all—of sparkling wine connoisseurs.
- a concert of bowls and gongs under a starry sky (in the winter option: in the atmospheric interiors of our house),
- a horse-drawn carriage ride,
- workshops on making decorative wreaths or motanki (Slavic power dolls).
Fourthly: a bike for advanced cyclists. We recommend further cycling trips, as Konik Polny is a good base for trips in various directions: to Spała, Tomaszów and the local Niebieskie Źródła reserve, the Pilica River Open-Air Museum, Nagórzyckie Caves, Rogów (arboretum, narrow-gauge railway), Lipiec Reymontowskie, the Mroga Valley, and the Łódź Hills Landscape Park. The routes are paved and rarely used.
Fifth: there's a lot going on here.
- The Spała Antiques and Folk Craft Fair, usually held on the first Sunday of the month during the warmer months (antiques and antiques, healthy, local food, handicrafts) or the Zalewajki Festival in Buczek near Brzeziny (really worth it).
- Love Polish Jazz Festival in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, where you can hear Michał Urbaniak, Nigel Kennedy, and Leszek Żądło.
- Reymont Day - on the first Saturday of July, the atmosphere of Boryna's wedding returns to Lipce Reymontowskie - crowds of guests arrive on a special vintage train from nearby Łódź. Concerts, dance performances, and other attractions take place throughout the day in Lipce.
- The Łódź Philharmonic "Colors of Poland" Traveling Festival - every year, the philharmonic ensemble goes "out into the field," performing in towns across the Łódź Voivodeship, including our area. It's worth checking out the program for the current edition.
- Many outdoor events at the Lisowice reservoir
In conclusion: Lovers of breathtaking vegetation will be delighted by the Rogów Arboretum, and kayaking enthusiasts should definitely try it on the Pilica River – it's a dynamic river, and it's impossible to get bored!
Those who dream of lying on their backs, sides, and stomachs should pack a stack of books, magazines, crossword puzzles, and board games.
Here, the kids roast sausages over a bonfire, play chase, practice passing the ball, swing on the swing, or sleep in a tent that can be pitched in the garden.
The nearby Lisowice swimming area offers more than enough water attractions. Besides swimming pools and a natural swimming area, the little ones can also enjoy a wake park, a rope park, and the universally praised... pizza!
Little dinosaur enthusiasts should definitely head to nearby Kołacinek, where they'll spend a few hours enjoying the attractions of the local Dinopark, also known as the Jurassic-Botanical Park.
Railway enthusiasts can enjoy a ride on the narrow-gauge Rogów-Rawa-Biała railway, which runs along a route over a century old.
Isn't that enough? Oh, and we also have the bison breeding center in Smardzewice, horse stud farms, and a nearby bridle path, and a little further on, the picturesque open-air museum in Maurzyce, famous for its blue huts that everyone wants a photo by.
If any little lady wants to have afternoon tea in the garden, we've prepared garden chairs with a table and umbrella (roughly suitable for children up to 4 years old).
In case of inclement weather, we have a decent collection of books and a game of Twister.
For the little ones, we have a highchair, a fold-out travel cot with an additional comfortable mattress, bedding, and a blanket. In the bathroom, there's a potty and a toilet seat.
