To find yourself, it's worth getting lost sometimes. A real abyss - away from the boss, flashing notifications and that pile of laundry peeking at you from the corner. Quietcations are what we call these kinds of holidays today: a vacation for well-being and to calm the mind. One that will allow us to practice mindfulness, enjoy pleasant experiences and simply be: close to nature and ourselves. We also dreamed of a place where such a quiet vacation would be possible. Full of small pleasures, but not distracting from the best thing you can experience in Spisz: nature. At the end of the road running along the hill, a minimalist cottage was built, which will replace your best 4K TV. For breakfast, you can absorb the view of the Tatras, washed down with a sip of good coffee, and spend the days hiking the Spisz Loop or reading a book on the couch. Evenings, on the other hand, are worth devoting to close contacts with important people: with yourself or your holiday companions. From April to October, we also have to deal with our fluffy neighbours, who are let out to graze from the nearby shepherd's hut by the shepherd. A house lost among mountain peaks is beautiful enough, but a house lost among flocks of sheep? You have to see it with your own eyes.
Our cottage is the perfect place for 4 people who value comfort and privacy. There are bedrooms at both ends, so everyone has their own space. In the middle, there is a cozy living room with a fully equipped kitchenette, where you can cook freely. Right behind it is a bathroom with a shower. And the best part? The entire front of the cottage is large glass, thanks to which the view of the mountains is always within reach.
Our favourite tried and tested places in the area:
**Bury Miś (Bukowina Tatrzańska)** – Atmospheric highlander inn serving solid, regional dishes, perfect after a day spent in the mountains. Known for its delicious meats, oscypek cheese and homely atmosphere in a truly Zakopane style.
- **Przy Moście (Szaflary)** – Cosy restaurant with home-cooked food, where filling Polish dishes and regional specialties reign supreme. A great place for a family dinner after a bath in the thermal baths – decent portions and friendly service guaranteed.
- **L’Arte Del Sud (Sromowce Niżne)** – A real Italian gem in Spisz, run by enthusiasts of Mediterranean cuisine. Serves authentic pizzas, fresh pasta and delicious wines, transporting the flavours straight to southern Italy.
And if you want something truly local, we recommend our neighbouring shepherd's hut, only 200 metres from us! Real oscypek and bunc are made there every day, and you can see the process live – and you can pet the sheep that provide milk for these delicacies.
BACÓWKA U DARKA.
Our cottage is located in a unique place - exactly between the Tatra Mountains, Pieniny Mountains and Lake Czorsztyn. Each of these directions is a real landscape gem, and a paradise for lovers of sports, tourism and recreation. If you like active recreation and beautiful views, it's hard to find a better one!
But let's start with what's in the immediate vicinity:
1. From the cottage, there is a path to Mount GRANDEUS, which is the highest point in Spisz. A great place for sunrise or sunset, because the view is 360 degrees.
2. 100 m from the cottage there is a trail: Pętla Spiska. This is a picturesque tourist route leading through the extremely charming areas of Spisz - a historical region on the border of Poland and Slovakia. The trail offers not only beautiful views of the Tatra Mountains, Pieniny Mountains and Lake Czorsztyn, but also the opportunity to discover local culture, monuments and nature.
Distance: about 25–30 km (depending on the route variant)
Travel time: 7–9 hours on foot / 3–4 hours by bike
Difficulty: medium – the trail is well marked, but has a few climbs.

Attractions for children in the Polish Spisz
The Polish Spisz is a great place for a family vacation. You will find plenty of attractions here that will delight the youngest - from castles and amusement parks to interesting walking routes and water adventures. Here are some of the best suggestions:
1. Niedzica Castle and its secrets** 🏰
Children love castles, and the one in Niedzica hides many legends, including the secret of the Inca treasure! You can visit chambers, observation towers and see medieval torture instruments. An additional attraction is the possibility of a boat cruise on **Czorsztyn Lake**.
2. Gondola cruises on Czorsztyn Lake** 🚤
This is great fun for the whole family! Children can admire two castles from the water - Niedzica and the ruins in Czorsztyn. The views are fabulous, and a cruise is a great way to relax.
3. Park of Miniatures and Monuments of Podtatrze in Niedzica** 🏡
Kids can see miniature versions of famous buildings from the region, which allows for an interesting journey through the history and architecture of Spisz on a child's scale!
4. Educational trail on Castle Hill** 🌿
In Niedzica there is an interesting nature trail, where children can discover the world of fauna and flora of Spisz, and at the same time enjoy beautiful views of the lake.
5. Spiska Kraina - amusement park and toboggan run** 🎢
This is a must-see for families with children! You will find here:

7. Termy Bania in Białka Tatrzańska** 💦
Although they are not located directly in Spisz, they are very close! This is a water paradise for children – slides, paddling pools, artificial waves and warm water mean that everyone will find something for themselves.
8. Cycling routes around Lake Czorsztyńskie** 🚴
Children who like outdoor activities can go on easier cycling routes around the lake. The views are amazing, and you can find places for a picnic along the route.
