Black volcanic sand, the sound of the ocean, small natural bathing areas, protected from the ocean waves... But also the majestic Teide, El Drago, banana plantations and year-round sunny weather. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit the Canary Islands yet, don't hesitate! Today we'll take you to Tenerife - specifically to its north-western part, to San Marco and nearby Icod de los Vinos. This is where you can lie on the black sand and absorb the diversity of the largest of the Canary Islands. And from here it's just a short walk to its symbol: El Drago milenario (Dracenea Draco). To a tree/plant that can only be found in a few places in the world. According to legends, the dragon tree has not only magical power, but also healing properties - the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands (Guanches) considered it sacred. It is in Tenerife that it is one of the largest and most famous trees of this type. It reaches a height of about 21 meters and a trunk circumference of 20 meters. Inside there is a large niche almost 6 meters high - and you haven't seen its mighty crown yet! We think that the beauty of this plant will not leave you indifferent (as well as the Canary sun ;) And we are not surprised at all. Be sure to let us know what impression El Drago made on you...

From seafood, through meat, to Italian cuisine. You will find almost everything here.
But... we encourage you to try something typical - pay attention to Guanchinches.
This name was given to characteristic local restaurants with food, where you can try typical dishes of the Canary Islands. But it all depends on which part of the island you are currently in. Most guachinches can be found in the north of the island, especially in the towns of La Orotava and La Matanza de Acentejo. Don't expect the appearance of a 5* restaurant here, but these flavors... will blow you away ;) For example, simple, yet so tasty: pappas arrugadas with mojo rojo and mojo verde sauces.
However, not all Guanchinches are open every day (it is worth checking which ones are open before your visit).
In addition, in the vicinity of the apartments there are cozy establishments serving local specialties to the sound of the waves and cafes serving aromatic coffee and Spanish sweets. It would be a sin not to try the original Canarian coffee Barraquito with condensed milk and liqueur or its non-alcoholic variant: leche (y) leche.
Drink coffee while admiring the oldest dragon tree in the world - El Drago, we will organize dinner for you at a local fisherman's and direct you for a glass of wine in an Italian pub where turkeys and cats run around.
Once you’re here, this “lunar landscape” is worth exploring – you can easily drive from one side of the island to the other in just an hour. And the best part is that once you do, the island opens up to you like a book of stories.
From sandy beaches in a beautiful (not only) black colour, a lunar landscape full of cacti, through banana plantations hidden from the hot sun, to the majestic Teide with views that will take your breath away...
But let’s start with the picturesque Icod de los Vinos and the symbol of Tenerife: El Drago Milenario...
PARQUE EL DRAGO & EL DRAGO MILENARIO
Around this symbol of the Canary Islands, a park has been built, where you can not only walk among the typical fauna of these islands, but also read all sorts of interesting information, smell the herbs in the herb garden, learn about the history of local vine cultivation and wine production... Or enter the "cave", where you can see how the original inhabitants of the islands - the Guanches buried (mummified) their dead.
Alternatively, you can also try to count all the lizards that you can come across here.
TEIDE
Discover the raw beauty of the highest peak in Spain. Whether you want to go to the very top of the volcano, to the crater or not, go "up there". The trip itself is an unforgettable experience. Conifers that survive even after being burned by lava and fire from the volcano, a landscape reminiscent of the Grand Canyon and views from the winding road where the sky and ocean merge into one. We recommend booking tickets for the cable car in advance, and if you want to go around Teide, it is essential to obtain a permit.
ANAGA PARK
Here you will understand why Tenerife is called the land of contrasts. We recommend packing warm clothes for the trip. The humidity at this altitude is very noticeable. We do not recommend it for people who have a panic fear of heights :)
What else? For example:
- La Orotava (a town surrounded by banana plantations, where you can go back to the times of the first conquistadors)
- Masca Gorge (you have to ask for admission in advance)
- San Cristobal de la Laguna (UNESCO World Heritage Site; once the island's capital)
- Punta de Teno
- Los Gigantes in the south of the island (rock formations that fall directly into the ocean)
- countless hiking and cycling trails
- water sports: from catamaran cruises to snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding or extreme surfing!
For lovers of culture and history, we recommend visiting nearby towns that hide a multitude of monuments. The town of Icod de los Vinos, also known for its beautiful traditional vineyards, as well as Puerto de la Cruz and Garachico, are particularly worth visiting.
