Have you ever heard of Jozef Dekret-Matejovie? This gentleman, who lived at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, has a very interesting connection between his fate and the fate of Staré Hory. But to the point - he was a Slovak forester. But not so ordinary, today we could say that it is modern and sensitive to climate change. So, although he was credited with streamlining logging (for example, instead of using axes in logging, he introduced a sawmill), but at the very top are his afforestation work. You may say to yourself now that this is nothing, but we will be happy to mislead you. Thanks to his determination and enthusiasm for the cause, the planned afforestation of the mountains began, which destroyed several centuries of logging for mining, metallurgy or glassmaking in these areas. This wise Mr. Matejovie not only started planning the planting of small trees, but also took an active part in it. After all, a few years before leaving this world, he managed to plant 3,942 hectares of forest, which were previously bare like a finger ...
And when, many years later, it became clear how and what kind of roof over your head to build, the choice fell on renewable materials. Women have a special power and so the phone call from two friends caused a project to be created in one night and in a few months, it grew up behind a wooden house from an old woodshed, an economical house, a studio. Eliška's studio. Made of wood, straw, hemp insulation, all plastered with clay plaster. Believe us, looking at those patterns in the bathroom, you will find it really hard to believe. And that's not all - huge windows, a 100-year-old cast iron furnace from Norway, a bench from Greece, a trio of chairs from the 1960s, a practical staircase with storage space ... We believe in the spirit of the place, in the feeling of home , even if you find yourself somewhere for the first time. And we also believe that our original studio will gladly accept and embrace you.
The wooden house mentioned above is our Inga. Wooden house Inga. Together with Atelier Eliška, they have in common not only one wall, but also the whole courtyard. And since we rent both houses, you can come across your neighbors. Or ask if you can book both seats when you want to come more.

Hello, I'm Chozé and here at Slowhop I will be your host in Chata Motyčky, Drevenica Inge and Atelier Eliška. Each of these cottages has its own unique story, let me at least partially share it:
The story of Inga's Wooden House and Eliška's Studio began about fifteen years ago, when Inga bought a historic wooden house and started remodeling it for herself and her son. A few years later, the architect Eliška joined her, who, after returning from Greece, built a small housing studio from the original woodworks. And today we want to share these two magical places with you. Listen to the conversation between a traditional building and a new extension, between modern elements and traditional ones. We kept what was possible and where it seemed right to us, we tried it with the news. In the wooden house and in the studio, there is a lot of custom-made furniture, recycled old pieces, or new ones made using older elements. We are very happy that we managed to preserve a number of objects from the past, and at the same time we were able to supplement the space with artistic or craft artifacts. All in order to create the right (not wasted), pleasant (use natural building materials in the studio) and an inspiring environment.
Cottage Motyčky on the bank of the reservoir grew up as a project of a group of friends who (almost) self-built on the site of the original house of the founder Anton Motyčka comfortable large cottage, which can accommodate a flock of avid tourists, families with children or convinced ski alpinists. The charm of the terrace and now the sauna on the shores of the lake is unrepeatable. After all, try sitting in the sauna relaxation room, talking in the warmth and looking out over the heaps of snow and the frozen lake through the glass wall.
We would like to welcome you to us: Eliška, Inga and Chozé

The two-storey loft was created by rebuilding an old woodworks into an original studio. The whole project was built with respect for nature - wood, electrical foils directly in clay plasters, or a 100-year-old Norwegian cast iron furnace. The Loft is located in the Old Mountains, only 12 km from the Snow Park Donovaly.
