Have you ever heard of Jozef Dekret-Matejovie? This gentleman, who lived at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, has a very interesting connection between his fate and the fate of Staré Hory. But to the point - he was a Slovak forester. But not so ordinary, today we could say that it is modern and sensitive to climate change. So, although he was credited with streamlining logging (for example, instead of using axes in logging, he introduced a sawmill), but at the very top are his afforestation work. You may say to yourself now that this is nothing, but we will be happy to mislead you. Thanks to his determination and enthusiasm for the cause, the planned afforestation of the mountains began, which destroyed several centuries of logging for mining, metallurgy or glassmaking in these areas. This wise Mr. Matejovie not only started planning the planting of small trees, but also took an active part in it. After all, a few years before leaving this world, he managed to plant 3,942 hectares of forest, which were previously bare like a finger ...

And when, many years later, it became clear how and what kind of roof over your head to build, the choice fell on renewable materials. Women have a special power and so the phone call from two friends caused a project to be created in one night and in a few months, it grew up behind a wooden house from an old woodshed, an economical house, a studio. Eliška's studio. Made of wood, straw, hemp insulation, all plastered with clay plaster. Believe us, looking at those patterns in the bathroom, you will find it really hard to believe. And that's not all - huge windows, a 100-year-old cast iron furnace from Norway, a bench from Greece, a trio of chairs from the 1960s, a practical staircase with storage space ... We believe in the spirit of the place, in the feeling of home , even if you find yourself somewhere for the first time. And we also believe that our original studio will gladly accept and embrace you.

The wooden house mentioned above is our Inga. Wooden house Inga. Together with Atelier Eliška, they have in common not only one wall, but also the whole courtyard. And since we rent both houses, you can come across your neighbors. Or ask if you can book both seats when you want to come more.

If you belong to the group of those who like unusual details and atypical places, you are right. If you are an enthusiastic tourist, mushroom picker or skier, your attention is also well directed. And if you are one of those who care about ecology, you are also at the right place. We will explain why immediately. Our work is carried over into our daily lives, so when the idea came to create a studio suitable for an architect, it was clear what it would look like. It was also clear that we are building on ecology and everything will be built with nature in mind. And so the old woodworks was rebuilt into an original studio. Modern new building made of natural materials such as hemp, wood, clay plaster, in which electrical foils are hidden. And everything built so that it doesn't hurt with the almost 200-year-old wooden house Inga, to which the studio is attached.

The studio, or if you want otherwise - a loft, will be a nice place to relax. The whole space is airy, connected without unnecessary walls and huge windows overlooking the garden will certainly not cut you off from nature. In addition to the kitchen island and bathroom, the entire ground floor also includes a relaxation area with a 100-year-old cast iron oven (in winter you will have wood ready for heating). There is also a sofa bed that can accommodate 2 spatulas. The stairs, which hide small and large storage spaces for kitchen utensils, books or clothes, lead to an open bedroom with a double bed. There is also a space on the floor set aside for work, as long as it requires your attention. Of course, if the view of the whole fairy-tale studio and the nature behind the windows does not deprive you of it. And let's tell you one more thing - the whole device is made exclusively of recycled pieces of furniture.

The kitchen is all yours. Don't be afraid to examine all the shelves, cabinets and places where we have stored everything you could need. Definitely don't forget to sort garbage and you can also buy herb syrups, coffee from a roasting plant or olive oil from sunny Greece directly from us.

Just take it ... the village lies in the Starohorská valley, which is the border between the Starohorské hills on one side and Veľká Fatra on the other. And the Low Tatras. So it lies between them and the aforementioned Great Fatra. So as a starting point for hikes, you already have it set up here. Pack your vibes, backpacks and go. And you can also mushroom in the season. For fans of mountaineering, the Jelenec rock will be a good recommendation, where not only those experienced will use their skills, but beginners and children can also take part in the secrets of climbing. And Šturec rock, but don't forget the technique here.
In winter you will not be far from Donovaly or skiing on Krížná. So between us, did you pack the snow chains in the car?

Since mining is a part of the history of the village, in the house no. 106, at the Chapel of St. Anny, it pays to visit a private mining exhibition in the Old Mountains. The founder of the museum, Mr. Čilík and his son, collected 377 exhibits from this ancient mountain area. Be sure to go see it.

If you want to know more about the SNP and the Partisan Republic, there is no better place. Despite the decades that have passed, the partisan hearts of the people from Starohorská dolina are not forgotten, nor about the uprising, nor about the radio stations - employees of the Free Slovak Transmitter who survived the winter as partisans in the bunker under Jelenská Skala and continued broadcasting in the mountains (read at http://www.rozhlasaci.sk/).

In the introduction, we mentioned Jozef Dekret-Matejovie, whose monument you can go to see the settlement of Dolný Jelenec and from there go on a 9.5 km long educational forest trail. He will take you through almost all the sites that were forested thanks to the mentioned gentleman.

The studio is a spacious place where your little ones can fit with you, but you will not find a cot with us. In addition, the children's corner inside is lined with soft furs to make the children comfortable, it is full of toys and books and with a tempting view of the garden. This, in turn, common to visitors to Drevenice Inga, has plenty of space for chanting. There is a trampoline, a pond, a children's house with a slide and a sandpit. If they are few, there is a pond and a stream in the garden, and in winter they have a great space to build a snowman and bunkers.
