Take our prescription for peace of mind. You can do it at the Old Pharmacy in Srebrna Góra. The pharmacy was built in the 1930s by German pharmacists, at a time when Srebrna Góra was called Silberberg, and the Sowiogórska Railway from Dzierżoniów to Ścinawka Średna passed through brick viaducts and a suspension bridge. Prescription drugs were prepared and distributed to patients until 2010. Now the Pharmacy is a guesthouse run by my parents - Ewelina, passionate about interior decoration, and Marcin, an avid cyclist and trainer. That is why the house is decorated with pharmacy cupboards, antique stairs lead to the apartments, old furniture has a new life, and in the basement there is a yoga room and a sauna.
The Old Pharmacy is a kind of sanatorium. For cyclists covering the local Enduro routes, for history seekers in the Stronghold of Silver, for those longing for a moment in the sauna or in the bubbles. After all, for the bubbles cooking the leaf soup and their parents who dream of brilliant, warm coffee in the garden. Instead of a bag of medication, all you need is a little sport, mountain air, good sleep, relaxation and airing your head. In the Old Pharmacy. As in the best sanatorium, but without a referral.
In a villa from the 1930s built by German pharmacists. Until 2010, there was a pharmacy here, and later a guesthouse established by my grandparents - hoteliers with extensive experience. In the end, my parents took care of the Old Pharmacy and poured their passions into it - my mother showed her great talent in interior design, and my father fulfilled the dream of a sports base.
In this way, in Stara Apteka we have:
- 4 beautiful apartments, each with its own living room and bathroom, decorated with old Polish and Czech furniture, decorated with art, with refreshed wooden parquet floors,
- a charming kitchen for shared use by guests of the guesthouse,
- yoga room in the basement,
- sauna - also in the basement.
It is simply impossible to get bored in Srebrna Góra, although you can try. You can do nothing for a while in a tub with bubbles in the garden, you can sit under a pear tree and soak up the green, you can eat apples from the tree and lie on the grass with your head in the clouds. Well, you can do that for a while, but then the walking routes, Enduro routes, underground tours, cobbled streets of Srebrna Góra, monuments, slopes and cross-country tracks begin to tempt. We can't help it, there is so much activity in the area to try that your legs are in a hurry by themselves.
But let's start with what's under our breath. In the basement there is a sauna and a yoga room.
After regeneration, it's time to hit the road. We recommend the Silver Mountain Enduro Routes, great mountain bike routes of varying difficulty (from easy to expert), which are part of the Sudety MTB Zone, the largest system of mountain bike routes in Poland with a total length of 550 km. On site you will also find a bicycle rental, you can take part in a bicycle training, and also buy a tarpan ride up the hill.
One of the routes - the orange one - turns into a cross-country track in winter. It is a route connecting the Srebrna Pass with the Wilcza Pass, the height difference between the passes is only 70 meters above sea level, and the route is 11.29 km in total. The most popular place to start cross-country skiing is the Jugowska Pass - there is a parking lot and an open bar Jugów-Park.
We recommend hiking trails to Bardo and Wielka Sowa for hikers.
We direct everyone, regardless of their holiday preferences, to the impressive Srebrna Góra Fortress. The fortress was built in the 18th century to provide military protection for Silesia, captured by Prussia in 1740. The building is historically, architecturally and culturally interesting. You can visit the fortress all year round. All the secrets of the fortifications will be revealed to you by a guide who knows this place from the inside, or maybe from the underground. It is worth going to the vantage point from which you can see the top of Biskupia Kopa in the Opawskie Mountains or Śnieżnik in the Śnieżnik Massif. It is also very worth going on a night tour of the Fortress with a Prussian soldier. From him you will learn a lot about the hardships of a soldier's life, and maybe for a moment you will feel like in the Prussian army.
Culinary and cultural events also take place in the Fortress.
- In August, the old walls are filled with music in the following climates: Drum and Bass, Techno, House, Reggae and Dub, thanks to the Drum Basstion Festival.
- In July, the Beer and Cheese Festival takes place here, during which you will taste craft beers and craft cheeses and generally tasty food.
We have already written that in Srebrna Góra everyone will find something for themselves. Technology enthusiasts can take a walk to see brick viaducts and a suspension bridge, which are part of the route of the former Sowiogóra railway, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The closest to the downhill rides is the "Przy Górze" ski lift in Nowa Ruda (12.5 km).
What’s there for children?
The kids have their hands full with us. In their summer kitchen they cook soups made of sand, mud and leaves, they make sandwiches with sand icing, and they build sand castles. They swing, slide down, pull up on a rope, play ball, climb trees. In summer, they can help their parents in the jacuzzi, see how the nuts grow and eat pears straight from the tree. Then it's time for a bicycle, visiting the Fortress, a walk to the railway viaduct and a suspension bridge or to the rope park (a demanding park, for older kids).
