Our location is best seen from above. From the drone's flight you will see that the old Prussian building that we leased stands right on the shore of the lake. This and the fact that it is one of two houses in Borki made us take part in the tender. We were not discouraged by the need for an in-depth renovation, the intense colors of the walls or the prospect of a lot of work. We decided that it would be a pity if 40 ares of green area almost based on the forest and bordering the Sapina River were to go to waste. This was once the seat of the Borki Forest District. Domestic and foreign guests came to discover the wildness of the Borecka Forest. At its threshold, we have created a space for singles, couples and fans of group holidays. Before breakfast - in 43 steps - you can go to the lake or on the mat - exercise on the grass, in the living room or on the pier. And after the morning feast, jump on a bike, in a boat or go for a walk in the meadows. The forest is best explored barefoot and in the company of Andrzej Sulej - our neighbor-naturalist who knows all its secrets. Two of our hosts - Ola and Marysia - will share the secrets of pickling and pickling. This duo will not only feed you, but also tell you what's going on in the nearby grass.
Come by to see the moonlight reflecting in the lake, try pickled sorrel, feast in the garden under the open sky and read a book in a hammock. Diego, Rykowisko's dog guardian, is looking forward to seeing you.
We are one of the two houses in Borki. Once in an old Prussian building was the seat of the Borki Forestry Inspectorate, today there is a lot of space to relax. On the edge of the Borecka Forest, 43 steps to Żywe Lake, surrounded by meadows and a garden with a vegetable garden, we have created an asylum for adults and their furry friends.
There are 6 bedrooms in the house, 4 of which are available to slowhop guests. The rooms are sunny and spacious, each with its own bathroom. At your disposal are:
- Double room with a double bed (Room with a lake view),
– a double room with a double bed and a sofa (Cosy room for a couple),
- triple room with 3 single beds - connects to the upper living room (Attic Room),
- Quadruple Room with a double bed, 2 single beds and a beautiful lake view (Spacious Lake View Room).
The attic room and the cozy couple's room have direct access to the upper living room overlooking the lake.
The common areas of the house are: a fireplace room and a kitchen combined with a dining room on the ground floor and a spacious living room on the first floor with a spectacular view of the lake. In the upper living room we have created a relaxation space with armchairs and sofas. You will find there guides to the area, board games, an old CRT TV with a console, and even string and percussion instruments (before you organize a jam session, make sure that other guests are not afraid of playing music). We have hung hammocks in the garden space, you can also spread out on a blanket in the grass or help your legs on the pier - we have exclusive use of a part of the lake's shoreline.
The plot has 40 ares and ends with a forest. One of its borders is the Sapina River. We are happy to host pets, but please note that we do not have a full fence. There will also be a dog host - Diego.
The kitchen is one, but it has two queens. It is ruled by mother Ola and aunt Marysia. They can take your worries about breakfasts and dinners off your heads (you can choose a variant with two meals or choose only one). It is said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And that's what we stick to in Rykowisko. Although dinners are also pampered. If you run into our cooking duo in the kitchen, you can count on a Masurian story, a tasting of pickles that came out of their hands or a glass of schnapps - for health.
When the weather is good, we take the table outside and breakfast takes place in the garden.
We cook from local products, partly from those that will grow in our vegetable garden. If you dream of chives, tomatoes or arugula, there is a chance that you will be able to pick them yourself in the season. In the vegetable garden we grow vegetables, fruits and herbs.
In the neighborhood at Mrs. Jola's you can buy cheese, other neighbors have their own honey, mother Ola and aunt Mary make their own pickles, pickles and jams. Sometimes they also train in this field, so there is a chance that during your stay with us, you will gain new skills.
Welcome to the wild side of Masuria. Here you will have a forest, a lake and spaces where you will not meet crowds. We have views here that open the head, relax the shoulders and bring a lot of fun.
For the pleasure of everyday life, we recommend you:
– yoga or meditation on the grass or on the pier,
– barefoot walks on the grass, you can also pick a carrot from the vegetable garden,
– sitting on the pier by the lake,
– admiring the area from the perspective of a SUP or a rowing boat (waiting on site),
– small and large bicycle trips – we have four two-wheelers for you on site,
- sitting together in the garden,
– rocking with a book in a hammock,
– relaxing in the upper living room with sofas, armchairs, books and board games,
– evenings by the fireplace,
– bonfires,
– hanging out in the shed nearby,
– throwing a stick to the dog host – Diego,
– a walk around Żywe Lake,
– observations of stars in the evenings and the moon reflecting in the surface of the lake,
– for those willing, a night in a hammock accompanied by night birds and in the moonlight.
We have very inspiring people with many talents around us and during your stay we can organize many delicious activities for you:
– with your mother and aunt you can explore the secrets of pickling and pickling almost everything that is available at our place and from our neighbors (how about pickled sorrel?),
– Mr. Andrzej Sulej, our neighbor, who is a retired nature teacher and an active activist for the Borecka Forest, and privately a man-curiosity, can take you on a trip through the forest (he goes barefoot himself) – to the swamp to admire cranes, to the peat bog to watch insects and unusual dragonflies or discover wild herbs,
– we can organize a canoeing trip for you – our friend will pick you up from Rykowisko by bus, you will be rafting down Sapina through lakes cut off from the main trail,
– sometimes we organize culinary workshops during which we cook outdoors – we inform you about the details on our FB,
– we recommend Rykowisko for a slow celebration – intimate parties and hen parties (for this occasion we can organize lomi lomi massages for you, but arrange it with us in advance).
Please let us know in advance if you are interested in any of the activities.
Our surroundings are postcards. You already know about the Borecka Forest, on the edge of which we are. And we still have meadows and pastures. Time here slows down gently, you can stare at grazing cows and gaze into space. What can I say. There is an idyll here. We just have to warn you that bird concerts start in the morning and can be really loud.
We mentioned that we have bicycles for you on site, because it's worth looking at the area from the perspective of the saddle at least once. Lovers of two wheels can enjoy the area of the forest, which is very undulating and allows even cross-country madness. You can also cycle around the nearby Gołdapiwo lake (the route is 18 km long). This is not the end, there is also the Masurian Cycling Loop (i.e. about 300 km of routes connected in the vicinity of Węgorzewo with Green Velo), the Small Mamr Loop, the Węgorzewska Loop or the Great Stręgiel Lake Loop.
In the spring and summer season, you can visit the bison farm in Wolisko (May to September) and watch the morning or evening feeding and watch the animals from the viewing platform (remember to make an appointment in advance). About a hundred bison already live in the forest.
You can get to know the area better by following the trail of Masurian Legends marked out on the basis of Jadwiga Tressenberg's book "Masurian Tales". On the route, you will meet wooden sculptures (some of them are quite scary), which depict Masurian legends in various ways. The entire trail is about 100 km long and can be done by bike (this is a demanding route).
In winter, go skiing to Piękna Góra in Gołdap, a paradise for skiers. There are also cross-country trails in the area.
