Welcome to Staré Hory! Aim your finger on the map of Slovakia above Banská Bystrica, then your finger a little up and there at Donovaly you will find them ... in places once silver and copper red "abounding". It is said that the Old Mountains, or if you want Veterus montes, were already known in the 13th century! In the past, ore mining and processing made the Old Mountains a bright star in the skies of mining sites. Did you know, for example, that they used advanced mining technology, that there was an important mining academy in Banská Štiavnica, and that the amount of gold, silver and copper exported from our mountains to Europe and America is in the hundreds of tons? That at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries they built a large complex of smelters in Staré Hory? And just so you know, this ancient mountain kingdom is not behind 7 mountains or 7 valleys - just point it between the Low Tatras and the Great Fatra. Here in the Starohorská valley, stop and try to discover the fragments of a rich history on your own.

We also have a piece of that ancient mountain history, get to know each other. Her name is Inga and she already has a few good hands on her back. Specifically, 160 and belong to the historic mining wooden houses. And to live well in it, we remade it with a love of tradition and honest crafts. We searched for old quality pieces of furniture and reconstructed them. Our viewfinder also found old fabrics, which we sewed and gave them new life. We called in local craftsmen and asked them to create some unique details to fit into the interior. We wanted to breathe life and charm back here and we firmly believe that we succeeded.

And let's not forget, Drevenica Inga has its younger sister here - Eliška. They share not only one wall with Atelier Eliška, but also the whole yard. And since we rent both houses, you can meet your neighbors and make new acquaintances. Or ask if you can book both seats when you want to come more.

3 bedrooms for 10 people, large kitchen with fireplace, fast internet, garden, great wooden house just a jump away from the forest. This is how our Drevenica Inga could be described in a nutshell.

And if we wanted to try it differently, we would say that there are already more than enough manufactured things in the world. We stopped any shopping and started looking for quality pieces with a soul and a story. We gave them a second life here. Here you will find repaired, reupholstered and still functional beds, doors, chairs and armchairs. And you don't even have to worry about being cold in the winter - heating is available throughout the wooden house (radiators) and in the lower rooms you can heat yourself with wood in the fireplace and stove. The bathroom also has underfloor heating.

Drevenica Inga is adjacent to Atelier Eliška, with which it shares a garden and a parking lot.

Close your eyes and move back a few years. Imagine an old kitchen in a wooden house, in the middle tables with piles of goose feathers, aunts sausages, children hidden upstairs in the oven, guys sitting on the benches under the window and the live brawl.

And as it used to be, today the kitchen is the heart of the house and a place where everyone gathers. Today's kitchen combines - as usual - a kitchen, dining room and a pleasant sitting by the fireplace. So chefs and bakers do not have to worry about loneliness and conversations only with pots. Eaters can boldly keep them company and drink to their health with a glass of wine sitting by the fireplace. If you would like to grill or cook goulash, look for equipment in the garden.

In the kitchen you will find everything you need so that you really don't have to carry anything with you. Not even the water in the bottles - our water is great and if you have a taste for bubbles, the sodastream technique will help. If you are missing something or you want to buy your culinary specialties, go to the store to our neighbor Zdenka. See below for tips on where to go if you don't want to cook. If you have any organic waste left in the form of vegetable and fruit peels, egg shells, or other delicacies, separate, the neighboring chickens and goats will certainly be pleased.

We strive to support local suppliers in the region and minimize the impact on the environment. Therefore, we will be grateful and very happy if you share our values during your visit.

We have local products for sale such as herb syrups, coffee from a roaster, but also olive oil directly from Greece.

Oh, where would you start here? Active or lazing? With us, you can do both. A comfortable corner in the cottage or outside in the garden and just being ... but in theory you can do it even after that active part of the day. There are many opportunities for trips, walks and hiking in the area. Nearby are Donovaly, Špania Dolina, Šachtičky and many mining monuments.

Directly from the cottage you can go on a proper hike, follow the blue sign to Majerova skala and Krížna, follow the red and green sign to Šachtičky.
You will definitely notice Majer's rock directly from the wooden house and the ascent is suitable for the more experienced and demanding tourists. For the less able, the Špania valley with mining monuments, a nature trail and old mines and the Šachtičky recreational locality are sure. Such 200 m separates you from the wooden house to the crossroads, from where you can go for wanderings in the Low Tatras and the Great Fatra.

But. Staré Hory has been the cradle of mining for several centuries and the nearest point of the nature trail is only 50 meters from the cottage.

And in winter ... Donovaly, Šachtičky, Selce, Králiky, Jasná. Take your skis, snowboards, sleds and everything you need and go to the mountains! Pssst, there are also beautiful ski mountaineering trails in the area (Hrebeňovka Veľká Fatra;)

Be sure not to worry about whether the children will have fun with us! There is a garden house connected with climbing frames and a sandpit, plus a trampoline. And of course the rest of the garden for running, there are also a stream and a pond. If they want to close the bottom, they will find toys and books inside.

If you would like to go for a walk in the woods with your children, such an educational Forest Trail around the Old Mountains will be a good opportunity. The walk may be longer, but along the way you will also come across a maple carillon and the children will learn what to do about the forest and its inhabitants.
