If Gizewo were in Mallorca, the local spell would be "tranquila, cariño, tranquila!". But luckily Gizewo is in Masuria and instead we keep repeating: "take it easy, no nerves, there is time for everything". We have a Sunday here every day, we eat every breakfast as if it is Christmas, and from the afternoon we devote ourselves to radical contemplation of couches, sunbeds and hammocks stretched between the trees. This is how we live here, slowly, in our own way, a bit like in a fairy tale - in an idyllic house overlooking a pond, horses chewing grass and tails wagging dogs. The icing on the cake are peacocks looking at the windows.
If, like us, you value other people more than labels, the welfare of animals more than leather on furniture, you put peace of mind above all else, we will surely get along. Maybe we don't have luxuries here, but we care about comfort, coziness and good memories. Come to Gishewo for freckles on the nose, smoked fish, pizza from the oven and the holiest of peace.
We leave the entire house at your disposal, which can accommodate up to 15 people. When we rent it, we escape to our house next to the stables, so that you can feel at home here, relax and not worry about anything. Without witnesses, you can wear pajamas all day and drink wine for breakfast - that's just what we're saying.
There are 5 sleeping rooms in the house:
1st floor:
Room no. 1: approx. 22 m, one double bed 140 cm wide, one 90 cm bed that can be expanded to 180 cm, one extra bed 90 cm. The room can accommodate a maximum of 5 people (but it is quite tight). No bathroom.
Room no. 2: approx. 10 m, one bed 90 cm wide, which can be folded out to 180 cm, room for max. 2 people. No bathroom.
Room no. 3: approx. 18 m, two beds 90 cm wide, which can be folded out to 180 cm, room for max. 3 people. No bathroom.
Room no. 4 (apartment): approx. 35 m2, one double bed 160 cm wide, one extra bed 90 cm, room for max. 3 people. With bathroom.
Room no. 5 (apartment): approx. 35 m2, one double bed, width 160 cm, fold-out sofa, width 120 cm. room for max 3 people. With bathroom.
On the first floor there is also a large bathroom with a shower and a sauna with an amazing view of the fields and forest.
Ground floor:
Additionally, there is a bathroom for guests.
On the ground floor we have a small apartment with a double bed, bathroom and kitchenette, but we rent it only when guests request it, because we have our server room there and sometimes the noise at night can disturb sleep. But if the team comes with a nanny, a cooking lady, or a grandmother who wants to be downstairs, we lend this apartment to you. It is not included in the description of the bedroom.
In addition, in the house you will find a huge "chill room" on the first floor and a fireplace room downstairs, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining room, and a winter garden.
You can take your dogs with you (the size does not matter), but under certain conditions: they must be gentle - we have dogs, cats, horses, peacocks, and wild animals come to the meadows and they must sleep in their own beds, not in the bedding. We understand that maybe a Yorkie doesn't cause much trouble, but the rules are clear: your own bed. We are also not convinced by the arguments that the dog will be kept on a leash, a rope or an electric collar - we do not agree with such treatment of animals and we do not want to have a hand or foot in it. A vacation is a vacation - also for the dog.
What do you feel like doing? Pizza for breakfast? Here you go! Dessert instead of dinner? It is possible too. Dinner by the fire - nothing could be easier. It is true that we do not provide you with meals, but we have our own beautiful orchard, garden, our own eggs and a pond where you can catch fish (and then smoke, fry or bake in the fire).
If there are fishermen among you, we have indisputable rules for fishing: you eat what you catch yourself, but it cannot be more than 2 adult fish a day (we do not allow catching small fish). Anyway, a good angler will understand it.
In the area, you can buy the legendary cheeses at Ranch Frontiera, eat well and regionally at the local restaurant "We Młynie" or Karczma Berta in Święta Lipka. It is worth doing shopping at the Saturday ecological market in Jeziorany.
You should even be bored here. Count the clouds, ants in the grass, drift away with your thoughts in a hammock or take a nap under an oak tree. We enjoy writing and reading books, swimming, playing cards, sunbathing, fishing, walking, basking in the sauna, petting cats, horses, dogs and admiring peacocks. All this can be done from a horizontal position. However, if you lack exercise, here is a list of our favorite activities:
- swimming in the home pond (clean and regularly tested water), we also have a beach for children and a pier
- SUP races (we have three at your disposal),
- bicycle trips around the area (we have five and you can borrow them even every day),
- fishing (but only the big ones - we release the small ones into the water),
- playing a volleyball match on the pitch or babing... badbin..., badminton,
- yoga in the barn with a beautiful view of the horizon or on the pier
- timed pizza eating competition,
- festivals of commonly known and liked music around a bonfire.
There really is a lot to do, but you can also do nothing :-) If we succeed, we will take you for a ride in the great Masurian waters, but there is no mention of it ;-)
More ambitious people can choose:
- for a cruise on one of the 2,600 Masurian lakes,
- for a kayaking trip along the Krutynia River (starting in nearby Sorkwity),
- for winter iceboats in Mrągowo and Mikołajki,
- over the Fallen Bridge in Kruklanki,
- to the Boyen Fortress in Giżycko,
- to the Pyramid in Rapa,
- to Święta Lipka,
- on and under the viaducts in Stańczyki,
- to Himmler's headquarters in Pozezdrze,
- to Hitler's headquarters in Gierłoż and the bunkers in Mamerki,
- to Polish Carcassonne, the medieval town of Reszel.
Festival fans will be happy to know that every year the Mazury Air Show and the famous Shanty Festival are organized in Giżycko, attracting sailors from many countries. In Mrągowo there is the already hyper-famous Country Music Festival, in Węgorzewo there is an International Folklore Fair, and in Kruklanki there is a harvest festival where you can eat delicious food. Check the dates as they may be flexible. In August, our beloved Green Festival is a must in Olsztyn.
What’s there for children?
We can honestly say that children have a paradise here. They run barefoot on the grass, hit their buttocks with their heels, catch butterflies and get a golden tan, soak in the water and race on SUPs. When it rains, they play ping-pong, board games, cards, or when they are tired from the previous day, they fall asleep while reading a book. Little ones can help feed our animals, collect eggs or watch the horses being groomed. The older children organize their own time and very often come only when they are hungry. Our kids practice yoga with us on the pier - maybe yours will try it too?
It is worth going on a kayaking or sailing trip with children - it is a truly wonderful experience. In addition, we have the Winnetou Land Indian Village, a deer farm in Kosewo Górne, a Gothic castle in Kętrzyn and, for small (and big) history lovers, the Military Equipment Museum in Mrągowo.
