In the bend of the Brda, where our settlement is located, days tend to pass sluggishly. That's just the way it goes in a place with a hundred permanent residents. Although Piła-Młyn has shocking stories on its conscience. One about the spirit of a woman and a miller, the other about Napoleon wandering through Bory Tucholskie and hanging oaks. But that's not what you come here for. It is the nature hit list that attracts our visitors the most intensively. The arms of a meandering river await you here, which transforms from a lazy lowland into a rushing mountain. In a place called Hell, you will find Owczarz, Wartok, Fat and Chudy. These are not forest robbers, but erratic boulders, reminders of the passage of the glacier. They owe their names to the raftsmen who once floated wood on the river. We also have souvenirs of a different kind - tunnels hidden in the forest remind us that there used to be lignite mines here. Not just any, because underground. We also have a family house here, which provides a cozy shelter, a view of the forest and space for up to 12 people.
In an old photo from its construction, my mother Asia is pregnant. In 1996, I was born and my grandfather Bernard's dream of an oasis of family gatherings came true. The house he created was the best rest in the world. This is the best rest under the sun we share with you. In a spacious interior with four bedrooms, a large living room, a terrace and a garden, you can be together and find a space just for yourself, for children and for your dog. Here you will find evidence that family is good not only in photos, but also in the sauna, during dinner with smoked trout, ping pong games and evenings by the fireplace.
We are located in a small settlement in the heart of Bory Tucholskie - Pile-Młyn. It was here, on the edge of the forest, that my grandparents built a house that for many years united our family scattered all over Poland. After the renovation and preparation for the needs of large and small, we decided to share a vast space, located in an extremely charming bend of the Brda River and near the Szpitalny Lake. We invite you to a comfortable interior, decorated in an old style - with a stone floor and many wooden elements of the interior. Although the house is right next to the road, it is not often used.
A house that can accommodate up to 12 people has:
- 250 m²,
- 4 bedrooms,
- 4 bathrooms (including a large corner bathtub with hydromassage and shower, others with showers),
- common space: a spacious living room with a seating set, TV and fireplace, a dining room with a large table and a recreational space in the basement (with a ping pong table),
- sauna,
- a spacious terrace with a sofa, table and chairs and a view of the forest, surrounded by curtains protecting against the sun and wind,
- a large garden with a barbecue area and a hammock on one side of the house, and on the other - a play area for children with a house.
The layout of the bedroom looks like this at home:
- on the mezzanine there are: a pink bedroom with a large double bed and a cot with rungs for a child and a green bedroom with a double bed and a corner sofa bed,
- on the first floor there are: a yellow bedroom with a balcony and a double bed and a small sofa bed for one or two children (there is also a TV in this bedroom) and a blue bedroom with a double bed and a fold-out corner sofa,
- next to the bedroom on the mezzanine there is a bathroom with shower, and next to the bedroom on the first floor - a large bathroom with bathtub and shower.
It is a house that likes to unite under its roof long-unseen groups or those that want to relax in their company: a large family or a group of friends. It is an ideal place for reunions and family events. And there is so much space that everyone will also find one just for themselves.
The house is located on a corner plot, you will pass the neighbors when you reach us, but one plot separates us from the closest ones. The other houses are mainly holiday homes.
Two kitchens in our house are open to you. Spacious kitchen connected with a dining room with a dining table on the ground floor and a kitchen downstairs, in the basement. Use all the utensils, dishes and pots available here to cook your meal. You will find: a bread slicer, a mixer, a blender and a Thermomix. We also have a microwave.
There is a terrace outside, which in the evening turns into a romantic space illuminated by lamps. We have also prepared a barbecue area in the garden. We leave the list of the nearest shops and restaurants in the area below. We will also share information on a local smokehouse where you can get delicious trout.
In a small settlement, surrounded by the Tuchola Landscape Park, contrary to appearances, life does not go slowly, because there are so many possibilities here that you have to take care of boredom. From the entire list, you have to choose what is closest to you and indulge in the idyllic atmosphere here. Our main role is played by nature, which can be admired from the garden, terrace and balcony of one of the bedrooms.
In the spacious interiors of the house and its surroundings, you can:
- enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the forest,
- organize badminton tournaments in the garden or ping pong in the basement space or compete in board games at the large table in the dining room,
- relax on sunbeds or a large hammock in the garden,
- use the sauna located in the house,
- eat romantic dinners on a pleasantly lit terrace covered with curtains,
- spend cool evenings by the fireplace talking or joint film screenings.
There are 4 bikes in the basement that will help you explore the area. And it, in a nutshell, is: forests with countless hiking and cycling routes, clean lakes (the closest - Szpitalne, approx. 1000 m from the house, and Średniak, approx. 2.5 km), and a meandering river. Let's take a closer look at it.
Right next to the house is the entrance to the forest, which is full of mushrooms in the season. It also has an unusual attraction - a mining village, which was created to present the history of the only underground lignite mine in northern Poland, where it was mined using the deep-sea method. We have prepared maps for our guests to help find this place, located approx. 150 m from the house.
Brda offers one of the most beautiful canoeing routes in our country. There is a river bend at the height of our house. Before Piła-Młyn on the Brda River, there is a section called Piekiełek, it is a natural reserve in the Brda River Valley nature reserve. The watershed section of the river between the settlements of Świt and Piła-Młyn is characterized by numerous boulders, named by raftsmen: Chudy, Tłusty, Warkota, Kierda, Kentzer (and many others) and fallen trees. The water drop in this section is 2%, making it ideal for water fun for advanced skiers. For amateurs and those who want to go canoeing with children, the river has gentler sections. You can go, for example, from Piła-Młyn to Nogawica or go out to one of the lakes.
Along the river, there are also quite wild hiking trails and sometimes with high escarpments. Walking along the Brda River, you can reach the forester's lodge in Świta, where there are 300-year-old oaks, which are said to remember Napoleon's visit.
On the opposite side of the settlement to the river, there is Szpitalne lake. The main road will take you over it in 15 minutes, but the shortcut through the forest takes only 5 minutes. You will find a pier over the water. The bottom of the lake is very clean and the beaches above it are wild. A public beach with a lifeguard and a water equipment rental is located about 2 km away, on Lake Średniak.
If you want to go to the city, Tuchola, the capital of Bory Tucholskie, is 16 km away from us. It is worth seeing the building of the municipal office, which stands on the site of the castle that existed until the 18th century, the Museum of Bory Tucholskie and the old town with a medieval urban layout. A unique monument of hydrotechnical architecture in the form of an aqueduct modeled on Roman buildings can be seen in Fojutowo, 38 km away. The aqueduct is 75 meters long and is a crossroads of two watercourses - Czerska Struga and Wielki Kanał Brda. The difference in levels between them is 9 meters. In the agritourism area in Wymysłów (21 km from the house) there is the Museum of the North American Indians Sat-Okha with original Indian exhibits. There is also Bydgoszcz, 50 km away from us, and there, among many attractions, there is a historic river island. Młyńska Island is a green enclave of the city with the Modern Art Gallery, the European Money Center and the possibility of renting water bikes.
Nature lovers will enjoy a walk along a 3.5-kilometer long nature and educational path consisting of 10 stops - Jelenia Wyspa, located in the Bagna nad Stążką nature reserve (8 km from Tuchola). During an hour-long walk, you can get to know the plant communities characteristic of Bory Tucholskie, including very impressive peat bogs. In Woziwoda, a 5 km long nature and forest path with 13 stops awaits you, during which you can admire floating islands and mid-forest lakes.
What’s there for children?
In one part of the garden there is a children's kingdom - a wooden house with a play corner, which is full of attractions. It is a friendly and pleasing space for little ones to spend time safely and pleasantly. And when they feel like staying outside, we also offer a sandbox, an inflatable pool and a teepee, which is also a place for various games and outdoor naps. And the whole area of the city for running, kicking a ball and playing tag or hide and seek.
A great attraction for children will be a visit to a mining village in the woods right next to the house. This is entertainment for at least a few hours, because in the Mining Village you can, among others, take part in a field game, learn about 19th century games and activities, visit a country farm with animals, walk along the sensory path of the senses and meet the spirit of the mine - the Treasurer.
