Believe it or not, this place used to be one of the royal farms. There was a mill and an inn by the nearby Jaskranka River. When my brother-in-law and I were digging that part of the plot, we found its foundations and old oak logs. Knyszyn, a royal town, was the favorite vacation spot of Sigismund Augustus and during 40 years the king made 19 delightful stays in the neighbourhood. Probably not all of them were in the spirit of words, because from here he ruled the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was the golden age of this city. In the 16th century, its streets were paved, the town hall, baths and even a weight building were erected. The king died here, and his departure was immortalized in a painting by Jan Matejko.

Have we got your attention? All right. Because although the history of Knyszyn, which is 6.5 km away, can be listened to with bated breath, things are a bit less thrilling here - but how beautiful. Just beyond the fence, the wilderness begins. And it's literally: when you go through the gate, you will see a sign that says "landscape park". You will admit that the location is quite fortunate. As if that wasn't enough, we have 2 hectares of land at our guests' disposal. And on them: a pond, a swimming pool, patches of grass, a place for a bonfire, access to the river. So it is close to nature and just a bit further from great history. We are for families looking for an interesting place for holidays and couples seeking to discover the picturesque corners of the Knyszyn Forest. For those fascinated by Podlasie and ready to awaken this fascination. On the edge of the Knyszyńska Forest, right on the river, there is Folwark Jeleń. There are 3 houses on a large green area with a swimming pond: a large one and 2 smaller ones.

The big house has:

The kitchen in a large house has a well-equipped kitchen, where you can easily cook for a large group: one with an oven and a dishwasher. The kitchenettes of the smaller cottages are more basic equipped. The Granary has a fridge and a 4-burner hob; in Drewutnia a fridge and a smaller hob: for 2 burners.

The great news is that we are only 15 km from Korycin, and in Korycin, you are right, there is a kingdom of insanely delicious cheese. Take a ride and stock up, because it would be a pity not to use it. Koryciński cheese tastes great in a beetroot salad.

In Tykocin, 22 km from here, there is the most famous and supposedly the best Jewish restaurant in Poland: Tejsza. You will eat there potato cake, Christmas cymes and delicious goulash. The restaurant operates seasonally and it is worth checking in advance whether it will be open.

We think that people go to places like ours just to get a little bored. Of course you don't have to. Our location is such that you will be able to organize your time traveling to get to know Podlasie beautifully here. But you can, and it's best to do it slowly.

At location:

– to Knyszyn – see the area of a part of the city and the remains of the manor from the 16th century (they were destroyed during WWII), visit the local “place of power” or the 18th-century Jewish cemetery on the dikes of the royal ponds that are part of the manor; one of the largest and best-preserved Jewish cemeteries in the Podlaskie Voivodeship is also located here,

– to Tykocin (they say it is Kazimierz Dolny in Podlasie) – before the war it was one of the largest centers of Jewish culture in Poland: you can visit the beautiful Great Synagogue with colorful polychromes, taste the delicacies of Jewish cuisine in the cult restaurant Tejsza (supposedly the best Jewish restaurant in Poland! ),

– to the fair in Kiemusy – it is one of the largest flea markets and folk handicrafts in the country, a paradise for collectors and fans of objects with a soul; the fair takes place every first weekend of the month,

– to Supraśl – it is located in a clearing in the Knyszyńska Forest and is surrounded by forest on all sides, so the location of the city is unique; during a break from wandering around the surrounding forest, it is worth seeing the Museum of Printing and Papermaking, historic wooden architecture and weavers' houses, a monastery from the 16th century or the Buchholtz Palace,

– to Korycin – you can eat here not only excellent cheese (supposedly, the people got the recipe for it from the Swiss in the 17th century); you will also see a historic Jewish cemetery, a Slavic settlement from the 10th and 11th centuries, you will also rest by the lagoon, maybe even take part in the Strawberry Festival?,

– to Bohoniki – a village inhabited by the Tatar minority: you will visit a mosque from the second half of the 19th century. the 19th century and a mizar - a Muslim cemetery; opposite the mosque, in the Pilgrim's House, you can taste Tatar cuisine delicacies, e.g. kolduny or pierekaczewnik,

- to the nature reserve "Krzemianka" - its name comes from prehistoric flint mines from about 3000 years ago - it is one of the most picturesque places of the Knyszyn Forest,

– to the Osowiec fortress (Polish Verdun) – forts from 1882–1915 located in the swamps in the narrowing of the Biebrza valley.

Bring your children to us - this is a serious recommendation. We have a really large green area here, where they can safely get lost and make many kilometers: running, cycling or swimming in the pool, which we set up for the summer. In autumn, you can go mushroom picking, because there is no shortage of forests around. There is a telescope waiting for those who want to spot distant galaxies (it is waiting in a large house, but if you sleep somewhere else - maybe the neighbors will borrow it?).
