“We kindly ask you to provide us with 100 groschen of two- and four-hole shirt buttons” – the Jabłkowski brothers wrote in 1949 to Sochocinek buttonmakers. From one shell fished out from the nearby Wkra, the craftsman could cut 3 regular discs. To give them snow-white shades, the buttons were boiled in huge glass bottles. And then, to clean and smooth them, they were rotated for several hours in a drum filled with sawdust and wax. It's just a craft in the spirit of slow, isn't it? Well-formed parcels of 10 gros, with discs sewn on cardboard, went to bazaars in Warsaw, Łódź and Kraków. From the end of the 19th century, almost the entire village was engaged in their production. In the house to which we invite you, buttonmakers' sisters used to live. We don't know much about their fate, but sometimes we imagine how they produced shiny discs in its interiors using the traditional method. Right in front of us (and maybe you) a painter lived here, which is why we like to think that it's a house that encourages creative activities and encourages creativity.
